Selene feels bad for snapping at Sakura, she really does. But it’s all too much, the fear and the anger and the uncertainty flooding into her senses from all sides until she’s not sure where her own emotions end and the others begin.
Sometimes her powers feel more like a curse than anything else. She takes a deep breath and intercepts her sister a few feet away from the rest of the group, babbling some reassurance of her own safety, some joke to lighten the mood, but Katherine seems too distracted to really listen to her. She doesn’t really know what she’s saying, anyway.
After a moment, something clicks, and the rushing river of anger dies down. Selene can breathe again, can think again. She stays rooted where she is as Katherine brushes past her, a muted sort of static playing against her senses before she’s gone. Not too far - just behind a few trees.
It’s time to get back. Before any patrols find them. The police don’t usually venture very far into the forest without good reason, but there are still hunters and fishermen and hikers to worry about. Not to mention the beasts of the forest - usually active after dark, but still a threat even in the daylight. She can’t sense anyone on her radar, but it could just be the overload from being around so many people clouding her senses.
Selene turns back to face the others again, her eyes a stormy gray that contrasts the small smile she sends their way. She continues her sister’s point, since that’s usually her role in these sorts of things. “Do you guys have a place to stay already? If not, you could head back with us. Um… I mean, mostly for you, Cog, but you’re welcome to tag along, too, kitty!”
She isn’t sure if the kitty can really understand her, but that isn’t going to stop her from extending the offer. Animals usually stay in the forest, but she’s sure Annika would make an exception if she asked really nicely. “We’ve got plenty of beds and it’s nice and cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Plus people! Lots of all sorts of people to talk to or make friends with. Angels and demons and fae and all sorts of combinations of those, too.”
Her usually boundless energy seems a bit more muted than usual. Fights really take a lot out of her, with all the emotions ramped up to 11. And she wasn’t even the one fighting! She claps her hands together and waits for their answer, taking a few steps towards the treeline and seeing if they follow.
