Somewhere a distance away, deeper into the woods, a particular brunet was at work scaling the tallest tree he had managed to spot. It wasn't much larger than the rest, but it would be a better vantage point, he had reasoned. It took a bit before he reached the upper part of the tree, looking around to see how vast the forest was, which concluded why the angel had been lost for so long.
Chuckling at his perdicament, Elric tried to spot where the trees started to thin, where there might be an opening or road leading to a town of sorts, somewhere to try and restock all that he had lost in his recent travels. Though, it seemed he was lost even with his high ground, spotting no markings of civilization.
That was fine, he reassured himself as wings stretched out wide behind him. It was a great day, if not a bit hot regardless of the white button-up and cargo pants, but that wasn't something the wind couldn't fix. Picking a direction where the trees seemed marginally thin, he jumpped off the tree with wings spread.
It wasn't that the angel could fly, no, but if he could catch a wind current, he could glide for a relitively long distance. Luck was on his side in that regard, raising high enough to be suspended in the air for a bit longer than he would of without. It made survaying the area easier, and not only, the cold air hitting his body with the warm sun beating on his back and wings, it felt amazing.
Elric didn't notice when he had closed his eyes, but when he opened them, he noticed that, at an alarming rate, a large flock of birds were heading his direction. While the lead was below him a great distance, some of the stragglers were fighting against the wind current to keep up, right in his path. In an attempt to not crash, he tried to flap his wings to stall, back up, get out of the way, only to lose his place in the current and start plummeting instead. It didn't take long for him to return into a safe position to glide, but it also doesn't take long to fall a great distance, and as a result, he was at the treetops, trying to dodge some of the higher branches.
Unlike his previous luck, however, the angel did crash into one of the trees from the inability to properly fly, trying to catch onto stray branches to lessen the fall. It worked to a degree, though he didn't stick any sort of landing when he hit the ground with a hearty thud. The damage received wasn't the worst. Mostly cuts and places that would end up being bruised later, the worst being a fractured rib, but nothing that wouldn't heal up over time. Doesn't make it any less painful in the moment, moving to roll onto his opposing side. Because of his wings, laying on his back isn't the most comfortable position in general, but laying on his front would put pressure on the rib.
"That was a good fly while it lasted. Hopefully I didn't startle the birds too much." The angel chuckled to himself, wincing from the pain on his rib, only to laugh a little harder, simply to be cut off from the unformfortable feeling on his chest. It had been a while since he had gotten hurt to this degree from a fall, but it wasn't like it would stop him from trying to fly. If it did, he wouldn't of figured out how to glide, or enjoy the wind as much as he did, or his favorite part--see an amazing view that most were unable to partake in.
