His distraction managed to work and send her back. Perfect. Her blade was getting a little too close for comfort. He got up and dusted himself off, then waited for the ash cloud to disperse so he could see. When it cleared up, she was nowhere to be found. He had to give himself a pat on the back for managing to send her far. He wasn't even aiming for that much, maybe push her into a tree and knock the wind out of her, but once again his abilities surprised him, as usual.
He was starting to think he shot her into the stratosphere since she hadn't come out of the forest or returned from wherever she'd been launched. If that was the case, this had to be the fastest fight he'd been in, right next to the one he had with a frost elemental, and all he did was make the guy pass out from the heat.
Just as he blinked, the woman reappeared in front of him. Her outline as well as the rest of her body gradually rematerialized from thin air. It startled him for a moment. Teleportation, he could only guess. He hadn't seen that power before. Most Unnaturals he met rarely ever had it, just some other movement based ability from one of their powers, if it allowed them to, but never full on teleportation. Now he especially had to watch out for her blinking around the battlefield with it.
"It's cheap but it worked. Got you off of me, didn't it? So, it's fair in my book." Dante replied, fanning the remaining ash from his face. "You went pretty far. Kind of wished you kept going. Would've been a home run, knocking you out of the forest like that."
His jests suddenly stopped and he went silent after hearing the last sentence that came out of her mouth. Dante was called a lot of things: an idiot, a smartass, a fire hazard, a nuisance, annoying, reckless, crazy, smug, arrogant, foolhardy, and a number of other things. Most of the insults he paid no mind to, whether they were right or wrong about his character. They never made him lose much sleep at night. But one he wouldn't tolerate was being called a coward.
Just as anger started to rise within him, a tune made its way to his ears, coming from a flute? But who was playing it? He looked around for a moment until his eyes found their way back on the sidelines where their audience had apparently expanded. The girl who accompanied his opponent was still there, but with the addition of another girl and some…..goat dude? He stared at the musician, confused as to where he came from and why he was here in the first place.
It was nice that he was trying to provide music for their battle, but it didn't fit the mood at all. Something more lively would work better. The piece he played was calm. Too calm. So calm that it seemed to quell his anger to a degree. Was that intentional? He wasn't sure. All he knew was that he wasn't going to blow a fuse, but he also wasn't going to forget about the insult either. It would take more than a lullaby to make Dante drop a grudge.
As to whether or not the song had an effect on his opponent, was beyond him. No matter the case, the gloves were coming off. He spent enough time on the defensive to get a glimpse of her powers, so he knew what he was in for. The real fight began now.
Dante rolled up the sleeves of his hoodie. He snapped the fingers of his right hand and watched his arm ignite, letting the flames cover his forearm. He then shook it off to put it out. He rested the spear over shoulder and sighed. "Alright then, guess it's my turn."
After saying that, he ran forward until he got close to the woman. When he was in a suitable range, he would ignite his arm again and go for a punch, aiming for her face. He put a lot of power into the punch, so if it managed to connect, even if she blocked it, she'd still be in for a world of hurt. Besides, Dante had to get payback for her comment.
