Kore made sure to lock the door to hell behind her as she made her way back up to the surface.
Lisa was gone by then; a smart decision as far as she was concerned. And the town was so oddly quiet. She felt the eyes of the people on her back as she walked through the streets, sending the occasional passing glance back as she went. Some of them watched her with visible suspicion in their eyes. It was the way they greeted all outsiders. Others, those who had probably written to her, watched expectantly. A bit of disappointment drawn onto the face of the latter as the hunter returned with nary a bloody head or a celebratory word to confirm a job well done.
There was still so much to do before that time came.
So the hunter kept silent as she advanced, only stopping for a moment to observe the Town Hall. The... abandoned center of the town. It had been boarded up and the only signs of activity were a few lights that slipped through the cracks as a handful of souls crept about semi-silently within. Kore merely shook her head in disappointment and wondered what all the government must have done to this place. No matter. She kept moving forward until she arrived at the police station and marched on up to the front desk.
Hopefully, he knew something about what was going on... what had been going on beneath his own town for years.

"Good afternoon, Sir. Kore Smith, Smith Inc." she showed him her badge and gave him all the time that he needed to verify just how authentic it was, "I need to speak with the Chief of Police, ASAP. I've just uncovered something in my investigations that he needs to know about, and I'd like to request his assistance before moving forward."
Hopefully, he knew something about what was going on... what had been going on beneath his own town for years.
