Lark smiles and waves their fingers in a lazy wave towards the girl, elbows still propped on the roof of the car. “Ah, a woman of culture.”
Before they can say more, Cassidy cuts them off. They spare an amused glance for the roof of the car, presumably where Cassidy is sitting in the driver’s seat, and then shrug at Lily, a little ‘well, what can you do’ sort of gesture. At least it seems like he’s chilled out a little.
He gets out of the car, and they straighten up, acting as though they are on their very best behavior. They are, for all he knows.
“I won’t cause any trouble.” Their promise is undercut by their wicked grin, meeting his eyes and then glancing away as he continues, though they can feel his eyes intently on them. Yeah, yeah, names. Investigation skills. Like they couldn’t just go back to the formation of this town and figure it out in real time.
They won’t do that though. That’s cheating. They listen to his admonishment without being admonished, busy digging through their pocket and pulling out a stick of spearmint gum.
Lark pops the gum in their mouth and looks back at Cassidy, raising an eyebrow at him. “Alright, Watson. Let’s check out town hall, then.”
They consider something for a moment, chewing thoughtfully, then start moseying their way down the sidewalk, leading the way towards where the lady from before had pointed. “I’m not pretending to be anything I’m not, though. I’m Lark.”
It seems ridiculous to try to conceal their identity; how many silver-haired time travelers are there, really? They’ve always been rather obvious. They wouldn’t want it any other way. Lark twirls on a heel and holds their hand out towards Lily. If Cassidy is going to abandon all his manners, that’s fine, but they do like to make a good impression. “Nice to have you on the team.”
