Psi’s base of operations, set up for his interests and also to live in. Being an abandoned Train-Station under the Bronx, it was clear from the get go Psi was going to have a hard time setting up this place to be a livable place. Despite everything, however - he has, using the massive space to set up each corner based on what he needs.

One corner has maps, computers - folders and pictures all set up on a table with a board with the pictures on them. This is the ‘info-hub’ he used to pin pieces of information together. Having a brief look at the board and the files, there are addresses of people of interest that he personally knows; numbers too if they have them. He keeps a pretty detailed collection of files; a filing cabinet next to the computers that had digital copies and more maps on the screen.

The Other Corner is a fenced off area with gas-powered generators, with barrels leaned up against the wall. Nothing much else interesting there - other that they are very clearly stolen.

The last corner has a fridge and a chest freezer - and then a bed. His ‘living room’ as he called it. It wasn’t living really, just a corner he slept in and ate in and cooked in. Not much else to it other than surviving.

Coffee in hand, lemon slice in mouth. Lyra had decided to make a visit to someone she seemed to know more than she thought. A small laugh echoed through the tunnels as she pondered on how this person was the last test subject, and she was the first. They were so close yet so far apart.

Interesting.

The tang of lemon mixed with sweet was exactly what she needed. Lemons were interesting things. Such a weird exterior with vibrant colour, mixed with the smell of cleanliness. Subject 01 was humming lowly, a skip in her step as she continued her silent walk through the tunnels.

Around half way down, the half-demon remembered she didn’t need to have his shoes on, so she kicked them off. One clanging with the metal, the other crunching the dirt as those quiet footsteps got even quieter.

Lyra did have her eyes covered, her pupils in slits as she observed the traces. Satan’s Shadow wasn’t anywhere to be seen… mainly out of fear that Lyra did indeed, have a coffee in hand.

She finished the slice as her sharp eyes gazed across the mess Psi had ‘organised’, and in all fairness, it was organised very well. Lyra took a sip of her now lukewarm, extremely strong coffee as her bare feet stepped towards the marked board. The many files stacked neatly in some sort of - assuming - alphabetical order. Those covered eyes took in all information that was open and out. Anything she could see, she had now taken mental notes of. One thing the Agency feared was Subject 01 getting into any files she shouldn’t have. Her mind was something they never really got to experiment much with due to her hostile nature, but her urge to learn and listen to stories gave them enough.

Lyra didn’t really care where Psi was, it wasn’t like she was being hostile currently and would only treat him how he would treat her. So she just spoke aloud,

“Interesting map you’ve got. Any reason for it?”

Lyra had little care for much, she had been extremely bored and only getting by with… well… her killing spree was yet to be stopped but it was all boring people so it didn’t matter to her. Those missing persons files had only barely surfaced in the news, it really did surprise her that over 100 people dead and missing hadn’t alerted anyone. Then again, Lyra wasn’t stupid when she killed.

“Possible locations for Agency plants. Government, media - office workers. All of them. Don’t bother remembering them, I don’t want you to kill them yet.”

Psi said, pulling the curtain from a bathtub he stole. He was sitting in it, blood dripping onto the ceramic and floor. Looking up at him it was clear what was causing the wound. A metal piece of rebar was sticking out of his shoulder - her would pull it out, dropping it to the ground with a small grunt. Then he would start bandaging it as his parasite started to patch the hole over so he wouldn’t bleed out.

“Say, Girlie, where’s Satan’s Shadow? Thought he would be here complaining about how we’re barbaric and untamed or some shit.”

The parasite asked, growing a mouth on Psi’s arm and eyes to look at her. It would writhe around, before just shivering once the wound was sealed - looking at Lyra with interest.

He would grab his shirt, putting it on as he walked over to the board - shaking his head as he came close, wavering off the inevitable question of ‘what happened to you’ - not that Lyra would care, but he didn’t want to explain what happened just yet.

“Don’t ask. Lost a fight against myself - got my ass beat.”

…Confusing statement, really.

His voice turned her head, her covered eyes looking him up and down. A smirk, a raised brow, she barely tilted her head,

"That's a shame. Shouldn't leave out documents if you don't want me to read them."

Lyra turned back towards the board, at least only briefly until the mess that had taken over Psis arm decided to speak,

"What? You jealous he has two legs?"

Lyra held her smile, taking a sip of her extremely strong coffee before continuing,

"Barbaric, untamed? I mean he's not wrong but you're just gunky."

She chuckled,

"He can't leave anyway. Just hiding so he doesn't get his ass whooped for being in my space."

Lyras light words combined with the sense of dread showed the relationship between 'host' and parasite was more like a hunter, prey.

Lyra was curious about the wound but seeing Psi' response made it all the more humorous,

"You lost a fight to yourself? Damn, must've felt weird punching a mirror."

The Half-Demon took another sip of her coffee as she looked up at Psi, then at his arm, then back at him,

"You seriously lost to yourself? I think the only person who could inflict wounds like that on me would be my Specialist. Even then that's a stretch."

Satan's Shadow was crackling around underneath her, but he didn't dare appear. At least not yet. He didn't feel like having that rebar exploring the inside of his empty chest.

“Yeah, I did. As it turns out, in another timeline I’m not exactly a push over. Me at hundred percent got my shit pushed in from one hit.”

Psi explained, rubbing the top of his shoulder. To be fair, the building he got pushed into did most of the work. But the fact he was shoved that quickly into it embedded a piece of metal into his shoulder. That was the scary part, how strong he was now and how strong he could become later. It seemed to be no comparison right now. Which was really worrying.

“...I say another timeline, technically the future. Either way, he showed up to stop me hurting Kore - then left.”

As Psi explained, he’d look at the coffee. He would frown, before just crossing his arms.

“So you come into my home, and didn’t even bring me some coffee? Who did you even rob for that?”

He asked, smiling and shaking his head. While he talked, the parasite would be looking down. Deciding to not bring attention to him, the parasite would try and probe mentally to Satan’s Shadow - one to see if he had grown so snobby that he wouldn’t talk with another parasite mentally and two to keep their conversation subtle and quiet.

…You certainly know how to pick them. Like, hell - you had a choice in your host and you picked little miss murderer over here? At least when I picked Psi, I didn’t know I’d be possessing a literal missile on legs.

Lyra continued to listen with ease, clicking pieces together as she took another sip. Then noting down the name ‘Kore’ before answering his question with a jestering smile,

“Mhmm, that I do! You were busy beating yourself up, I didn’t have time to ask anyways.”

She chuffed as he mentioned robbing someone, her smile twisted into that of a true demon before she placed her index finger over her lips. Then, her eyes began to glow through the bandage as she passively listened in on the Parasites conversation.

Satan’s Shadow did indeed reply with a crackled sigh,

“At the time, myself and the Agency knew nothing about her. She was too intriguing and you know what they say, ‘curiosity killed the cat’. I got the choice and now I seriously worry for my own being.”

He damn well knew she was listening in, her demeanour shifting only slightly as her eyes focused on the parasite connected to Psi. She continued to look at him for a few more seconds before looking back at Psi.

The Parasite shifted around as Lyra started at it - it stared back. As much as she probably didn’t like it, she wouldn’t attack it because it was attached to Psi. This wasn’t a situation that Shadow was in, Psi’s parasite had the benefit of being somewhat symbiotic with Psi at this rate. Either way, it would reply back with a bit of laughter.

I mean, sure yeah - imagine if a Queen tried to bond with her. Looking back on it now that I have a working brainstem, that whole apex predator shit was pointless. Waiting out the end of planet and riding around the galaxy devouring planets; what was the point of it all? We can’t even flex that we won’t get attacked because- Well, possible spoilers.

“You two can just walk openly. As long as you don’t take her coffee, Shadow - I doubt she’s going to do anything.”

Psi voiced up after a while, looking at his arm and then back at the ground. Then he’d look at Lyra with a shrug. Her and him were very much opposites in how the went through day-to-day life, treatment of their symbiote and people. Common enemy allowed them to be friends, at least.

“Other than the coffee, have you ate at all?”

He asked, walking over to the chest fridge and just wincing in pain as he crouched to open it. As he did, his jacket would return as red strings put themselves together and weaved together a coat for him - a half trench coat. Formal looking too - the insides of the jacket glowing as he walked around.

“If a Queen bonded to her? They’d die. Simple as. I have no control over her at all. Not a single piece of her body. A Queen is nothing to her. You forget that I am a different mutation of us. Our plan to ride out was for the little gunky mindless ones - one that you were - to have an actual brain. Afterall, you aren’t made of dust.”

Lyra looked at Psi’s parasite. It never bothered her, just another thing she observed. The parasites never unnerved her, they were just another thing to kill. But Shadow chuckled as he spoke with Psi’s parasite,

“She’s a Monster. Her bloodlust far outweighs my own. No point in trying to fight her. I feel like I attached myself to a parasite - ironic.”

Lyra then looked back at Psi, uncovering her eyes as they hummed low glows.

“It’s wise of you to assume I want him around me. If he took my coffee he wouldn’t regenerate for months.”

She laughed in pure honesty, it made the crackling underneath her shudder with fear. As Psi moved, she followed, looking over him,

“I have eaten! I had a Lemon Slice! I wanted a lemon but they didn’t give me one.”

Lyra took a deep breath in as Shadow then spoke to Psi directly,

“2 Weeks without food.”

As Psi heard that she hadn’t eaten in two weeks, he pulls out some food from his fridge. Nothing glamorous, it’s a base he set up underground. Some fruit, sandwiches; stuff he made because he might need to get something. He’d bring it over, floating it onto the table and looking at Lyra.

“You need to eat. Eat.”

He said simply as he pulled up a chair and pulled out some soda from his fridge. He’d crack it open, shaking his head and just looking at his parasite. It would just shiver as if to shrug before speaking.

“Shadow - just come out and don’t bother the girl. It’s a big place.”

It said, before just looking at the ground. Psi himself would look at his hands as Red Strings started to appear around him and wisp around empty in the air. So this was what they were after. The Red Strings - why? He can’t change the timeline; that's very clear based on how many they’ve killed if he was the last one with it left. To get rid of people? They can infiltrate everywhere they want?

This power, while strong - it didn’t have anything they want. Unless he knew something they didn’t.

He’d reach out, pulling up the file on his Specialist. No black ink too, he knew everything about her. Something weighed on his mind for a while that he killed her and he was the reason she lived as The Agency Lapdog.

Turns out he didn’t.

“They use people like pawns. This went from me wanting to kill them all because they fucked with me to stopping them. Compassion. I’m starting to feel compassionate about the people around me. I know you don’t feel the way I do, but it’s one of those things thats bothering me. Why don’t you - all I’ve witnessed is that you kill people? Why?”

The Half-Demon looked at the food he had placed down. She prodded at it. Almost silently snarling at it as she sighed. Continuously prodding at the sandwiches. Psi’s Parasite had been asking for it so it’s best Shadow just proved his point.

Lyras prodding went from almost playful to piercing the bread as he began to form 10ft away from her. Crackling slowly as he spoke aloud. Or should I say, went to speak aloud before Lyra had - wait, when did she get to where he was forming?

It was as if she already knew he was going to be there.

And so, her foot swiftly followed by her fist thrusted this parasite across an empty tunnel. He would’ve flown further if it wasn’t for his dusty form shattering into an invisible barrier. Lyras demeanour had completely flipped. She glared at where Shadow had landed.

Psi’s words twitched her ears, her head swinging back around. Coffee still tightly in hand as those words weaved around her head.

“Compassion?”

“You went from hunting the Agency to Mercy? You know you stop them if you hunt them, right?”

She almost sneered before shaking her head. Taking a swig of her coffee before she looked over to the files. She began to move silently back over to the table with the food, taking another deep breath in before her blue eye seemed to hum a low red.

“I don’t know.”

Lyras response was low as her eyes winced shut before she spoke again, this time in sharper tones,

“Surely if you have all these files, you have mine. Right?”

If on habit, Lyra pulled one of her blades out from behind her back, balancing the tip of the dagger on her finger and overall fiddling with it.

Satan’s Shadow then spoke quietly,

“That is why. I hold no power with her. It may be a big place but I do not have full roaming freedom-”

He was then cut off by a low demonic growl coming from Lyra, trailing off as she recognised he had stopped.

“Never said I’d stop. They need to get gone, but not all of them need to die. Some are forced to work with the threat of death; others don’t have a choice. There’s a lot of turmoil in there, there’s gotta be a few defectors around who want no part of it.”

Psi explained, leaning back in his chair. When Lyra asked if Psi had her file, he would grab his own and let out a gentle ‘ahem’ - getting ready to read his own to her.

“It is in my personal opinion that Subject 16 has no space for empathy. He kills without remorse, and will continue to kill people if he is ever let out into the free world. It’s my opinion that we should conclude our business with his powers, and then terminate him post-haste.”

He put the file down and looked at Lyra, staring at her as he made his point. Files, as much as they were useful, were not to be trusted when it was about them. He would drink from his soda, before just looking at Shadow and back at Lyra.

“I want to know from you. Not detached scientists that know nothing about us. If I was like what they wrote me as. I wouldn’t be feeling this way. So there must be a reason why you feel this way about hunting, killing and continuing the cycle. And I want to hear it from you.”

He asked, leaning back on his chair as the parasite rolled his eyes. What a dramatic fellow.

Lyra shrugged. She simply shrugged. She didn’t understand what he was trying to gain. Since the Agency had taken her, everyone had been weird, odd, abnormal. Lyra did not understand what was wrong with killing. That was becoming more and more clear with her demeanour. The way she sheathed her blade, sighing and sitting on the floor.

It seemed like she was getting more frustrated, agitated.

The Half-Demon placed her head in her hands, covering her eyes while she thought. Lyra hated these conversations. The ones where there had to be a reason for everything. As she did this, these red horns seemed to flicker in and out of existence, the low green glowing patterns humming softly as the horns disappeared. She looked up at him,

“I don’t know.”

Lyra probably had more to say, but all of this prodding was irritating her. She might as well be back at the Agency with this sort of ‘therapy session.’

Psi watched Lyra with interest, watching her reactions as the parasite shivers strangely - it was noting her frustration. But it didn’t need to tell Psi, he saw it. He saw it without hesitation, and he leaned on the table.

She didn’t need to tell him, before letting out a sigh and just - nodding to her and just crushing the can in his hand and throwing it in a bin bag not too far from the table. He wanted to pry, but he didn’t want to annoy her too much.

“Hey, Lyra - it’s fine. You don’t have to think so hard. If you wanna answer, just say the first thing you wanna say. I don’t want some deep brain dig - I’m not the right person for it. I’m just curious.”

An indirect approach, offering her a chance to not talk if she didn’t want to. He would just sit there, smiling a bit - knowing the people she’s probably talked to before were probably scared of her. There was no fear in his body language, there was confidence; he knew he was safe and he showed it.

If if she wanted to throw something at him, his eyes were watching her. If she were to lash out, there was no harm that could be done.

Lyra narrowed her eyes. What was he trying to achieve? What was he hiding? These were questions that always plagued Lyras mind no matter what. Then, her round pupils turned to tight slits as her eyes almost glared into him.

She was watching his traces.

Her eyes followed the invisible, darting around him, around the parasite and then dead in his eyes.

This look felt like she was peering into your deepest darkest fears, all your secrets… It was unnerving.

Then she blinked, and then blinked again, and again. Each time a little longer than the last. Her face scrunching up before she shook the slits out and her odd coloured eyes returned to normal.

The Half-Demon shrugged,

“It’s normal. For me at least. I don’t get the big deal with it.”

Lyras attitude took another 180. At least this time there was some sort of heads up. Yet her words were clear and precise. She had no idea what the problem with killing was. She did not understand why everyone else was so against it. There was a clear disconnection with killing and it was rooted very far within her. Maybe the strings would show tangles of the times of her childhood. Maybe they would show their knots and frays of her weak point. Either way, Lyra had never seen anything wrong with it, no one had attempted to change her other than a lost soul from long ago.

Everyone from that point onwards either attempted to use her as a weapon of sorts. An Ace up their sleeve. Even when they thought they were incontrol, Lyra always seemed those two steps ahead. She really was the Master of Deceit, by choice or not.

Psi would look at Lyra as the strings around his coat batted around curiously - what she might have seen in the traces would be a mystery. When looking into Psi, it was like looking into the void; look deep enough, and it’s cold embrace started to stare back. Deepest fears unnamed, secrets that should never be told to no one else - it was all there, but it was like static. As soon as someone reached out to grab even one, it shifted just out of reach. It was the unnerving stare meeting the unfathomable darkness. Whether it was something interesting or unnerving to Lyra was unknown, Psi leaned back into his seat - fine. He didn’t care about the staring, as long as she saw what she wanted to see.

As Lyra stopped trying to peer into Psi’s ‘traces’, he listened again. Deciding to talk with her, instead of ‘at’ her - he would lean forward and just shrug.

“Because - murder is viewed as ‘bad’. Concepts I myself acknowledge but will disregard when the time calls for it. We both know when I do that.”

The Agency. Right - that's what he was talking about. Psi didn’t care about murdering people aligned with them. Nor did he care about killing demons, witches or anyone who crossed him. Maybe apart from Cassidy - but from all reports, he had moved on from being a hero since the New York Incident.

Probably for the best. Lines were starting to get greyed out now, blurred from good and bad - there were no good people around right now. Sure it was subjective - but everyone Psi had met recently were somewhat in the middle. Maybe apart from Swarm and maybe Oni-Girl; but still.

“I’m asking for your opinion because - well, I could just look for my own answers. But that's going over your head to do that.”
