Lyra was hard to relax around completely. Some days she seemed predictable, others she definitely was not. Today was definitely one of those days. Especially since she had consumed a lot of very strong coffee and never got a whole lemon.
Subject 01 was unpredictable in the best and worst way possible. Picking up on her little to no cues on attitude changes added to the natural fear she bought along with her. Luckily for Psi, he had the reassurance that she wouldn’t attack him, nor kill him, and he could definitely hold her off.
And as Psi spoke his first sentence she rolled her eyes, she made sure she wasn’t being subtle.
Swiftly, she stood up, looking at the food he had gotten out for her. Lyra wasn’t a fussy eater, she just simply never ate or didn’t have time. She once more, narrowed her eyes as she side glanced Psi, still listening but staying aware of him and where the food is.
Lyra took a sandwich, taking a bite and holding some high manners. Definitely something you wouldn’t expect her to do.
“My opinion?”
She went back to facing Psi looking rather relaxed. Her eyes always seemed to wander towards his arm, tilting her head before looking at Psi once more,
“Let’s see. This city… New York?”
She nodded to herself, remembering the name easily but delaying her point slightly,
“It’s been a big change that’s for sure. Going from dense forests to testing labs and now cities littered with easy pickings. The killing is mundane, it’s hard to find any interesting people here and they are always on their phones. The expressions they make are the same and everyone here is very bad at hide and seek. No one seems to like the same thrill so the blood turns grey on these dull streets.”
Lyra paused. A timing to hold out her words that little bit longer. Her foot was tapping silently and she occasionally looked back down the tunnel,
“But.”
Another pause, she inhaled deeply,
“They are yet to find the bodies. Some of these mysterious disappearances have barely scraped the news. Those big billboards are really very useful for information.”
She looked away again, focusing down the tunnel before shaking her head and looking towards Psi once more,
“The Agency, or at least my Specialist is here. Afterall we are just their precious subjects but they need us alive. Getting rid of them will be like stomping out every single ant on this earth. It’s gonna suck ass and it’ll take far too long.”
She smiled, a devious smile, something that held power,
“Yet we can easily drag them out. Let’s be honest. You have places and people pinned down and I have my own ways of finding what I need. I can leave a few clues behind on my kills and they’ll simply think I haven’t eaten in a while.”
She rubbed her eyes, there were bags under them but god knows when she last slept,
“Manipulating where they go will be child's play, but they are also playing the same game. They will want us to go elsewhere or do something drastic to grab our, and everyone else's attention. My Specialist - Project L.A.P.L.A.C.E, was spotted at the cafe I had just gone to. Managed to dip into the crowds before they entered the place.”
Lyra then scratched her neck, she felt like she was being followed. Not by Psi or his parasite and certainly not by Satans’ Shadow,
“It wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve found a way to take us both back by different means. Laplace never shows himself or his whole squad in my active areas unless they have some sort of plan.”
This feeling she had was never wrong. So her eyes glanced back down the tunnels.
