A City Filled with Lifeless Hunts.

Patrols through the night always appeared to take longer. Theory of relativity I guess. Everything was strangely quieter and yet nosy all the same in New York. Vibrant colors and lights shining through the more muted and shadow-covered portions of the city and its various routes and roads.

Over there.

The NanoSym did not have to tell me twice. I could already sense something with my sixth sense over in the direction. Something was happening. Something bad was happening. And it was in that alleyway.

So I swung over head and began traveling along the rooftops. What was happening?

The NanoSym took attention to the girl and the strange being or creature created of either shadow or dust. Perhaps a sort of pseudo-substance with Vantablack properties? Strange regenerative cells that slough off old cells and it appears as dust?

Then there was the blindfolded girl. She was agile and aggressive. The kicks, jabs, and grapples told enough of a tale. She was serious about this fight.

And deadly. At least to your average Joe.

Speaking of which, my eyes were drawn to the body. While the NanoSym kept its eyes on the fight, my eyes never left the body. Not one moment. The man's guts were torn apart, sliced open. Tremendous blood loss resulted in death if I had to take a very educated guess. Unless he simply died from shock or strangulation and the wounds were made post mortem.

I doubted it. I had very good vision. There weren't any bruises on his neck. Just a small cut.

The man was dead. No heartbeat. Nothing. My ears, all of my senses and my mysterious sixth sense, all but confirmed it. I would not even have to take a pulse. They had killed this man, and he was gone.

I dropped down, leaping and landing next to the body. The suit would touch the man.

Too late. I was too late. Too much time had passed. Brain death had been imminent. Even if I had somehow, through a sheer miracle, managed to heal and resurrect this man from the edge of death, his mind would be damaged. The NanoSym double checked.

This man was gone. Far gone. My regret mixed with the alien's. Myself in my inability to prevent this. The symbiote disappointed it was not strong enough to reverse this. The alien wrapped the body up, fixing it as best it could so it could be presentable for whoever had to look at it next. Police. The mortician. The family and friends.

After that, there was left only one last thing to do.

I fired two ropes of silk to attach to the walls of the alleyway. An improvised slingshot. I pulled back.

And I launched forward, intending to kick into the girl and send her into this dust demon-looking thing, having him being kicked and slammed into by her body and my legs being the force behind it. And I would try to send the both of them flying out of the alleyway and into the open.

If it worked, the pair would tumble and fall over, both having suffered a tremendous and accelerated flying kick. Meanwhile, I would land, rolling once, before resuming being on my feet and crouching down, taking a three-point stance and hugging my flexible body close to the ground.

Predatory. Nothing less for these scumbags.

"One chance. Surrender now or I will tear you apart."

I glared as my lenses narrowed becoming thin, angry slits. If this girl or demon doubted me, verbally or through physical experession, I only had one response.

"Try me, cowards."
