It was night time by the time Vermillion Kid reached the designated stop for the military convoy. Perfect time to ambush, he figured. A lot of the men would be sleeping, but there would be guards. A perimeter had been set up around the objective of their mission, a gigantic overcraft with two mechanical columns supporting an upright mechanical sporting the shape of a man, and roughly 200 feet in height. That was pretty big he thought to himself, spying the camp through his nightvision binoculars. "Need to get close enough to boot it up...and I don't suppose it will be easy..." He whispered into the ear piece, to his teammate's ears, into the ears of the one he had hired for the job. At least, he thought, not without hurting people. But damnit the prize was right before his eyes. If only he could just waltz in and take possession of it.
About 10 soldiers marched along the perimeter, aided by the night-vision visors. And they each carried weapons and had on them body armor sufficient to fend off low level meta-humans. Not that Vermillion Kidd noticed, but the possibility of there being metahumans on the security detail was also not entirely out of the possibility. "Can you take them out silently without you know, alerting the rest of the camp? If I could get close enough, I can probably jam their communications. That way you can do your thing and not have to worry about reinforcements." Kidd hoped she knew what he meant. Was he kidding? She was the veteran here, of course she knew! Wouldn't have come if didn't know what they would need to do to reach their goal.
I'm really new to this...so sorry if I fuck up Alice. He thought to himself. The camp likely consisted of 30 0r so soldiers- most of whom were on standby (sleeping) at that moment. There were ACPs parked in a single compound to the right of the area where the tents were set up, right behind the mechanical man. Some workers could be seen moving around under the gaze of floodlights, doing maintenance on their equipment and just making sure they were ready to be moving again.
Well one thing in their favor was that it was the cover of darkness, making it easy for them to move about. Still, the military probably had come equipped with complex sensory capabilities. They could probably sense movement too.
