BURNOUT GARAGE
On the surface, the Burnout Garage is a humble auto body and repair facility in the Bronx. The main mechanic, Ben Burns, is known as a reliable guy around town. His squad of technicians can get a vehicle back up to speed in no time, and his modest prices attract customers from all over New York, not just his local borough.
But, the Burnout Garage hides a secret.
If Burns lets you into the back, there's a hidden lever stashed behind his pride and joy, an old school Camaro. Pull the lever, and one of the walls of the back office retracts, leading to a dimly lit elevator. Activate it, and one of the Bronx's most restricted spaces is revealed.
Since the dawn of the automobile, a crook has only been as good as their getaway car. The same holds true for supercrooks.
Be it something as unassuming as a grey 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer or an enormous mechanized wheel fitted with proton projectors, the Burnout Garage services and stores countless iconic vehicles belonging to various supervillains from the dawn of superhuman crime to the cutting edge vehicles of the future.
Ben Burns himself is, of course, the legendary Burnout, whose stock car racing skills let him get the better of countless do-gooders. Burns is projected to have stolen over ten million dollars over the course of his criminal career - and more impressively, he was never caught, actually able to retire in comfort and adopt a job as a mechanic for other supercriminals. Burns long adhered to the traditional no-kill rule of super-crime, stating it was the reason he was never caught; if he'd run over anyone, he'd have been pursued more aggressively. Well, anyone wearing a cape, he'd be likely to add.
Burnout used his immense wealth to commission a hollowing out of part of the Bronx in order to accommodate his plan for an enormous enclosure to collect high-tech vehicles in. The load-bearing walls have been reinforced with titanium supports; the city up above is none the wiser that such a titanic underground garage exists beneath their very feet. Burnout's Garage is a well-kept secret among those with criminal connections, and he uses it to enhance his already appreciable wealth -
- by frequently renting out high tech vehicles to aspiring metacriminals. A long tunnel leads out under the Hudson, so the cars can leave at high speeds and emerge on the other side of the city; alternatively, an elevator platform can carry them out to the street level. Burns has paid guards all throughout the complex, and he's recently agreed to have the Mettle Gang secure his store, given the valuables that lie within. Why pay unpowered goons who go down in one punch when the King of the Bronx is on call? Naturally, they take a slice of the profit, but for Burnout, it's just charming to see the young kids of today making a name for themselves as thorns in the side of superheroes.
Renting a crimemobile isn't cheap, but they pay for themselves in no time: armored bulletproof glass, hidden weapons, and engines that put rocket engines to shame are all features of Burnout's secret fleet. If he really likes you, you might be able to convince him to let you keep it...for an even steeper price.
