From behind the front desk, Chelsea saw a familiar figure walk into view through the glass panels of the front door. A young Kore Smith, no more than twenty years of age, inspecting the sign just over the door. It read:
Succinct. Easy to remember. Rolled right off the tongue. Some may have called it unimaginative but Kore was a hunter, not an artist. Regardless, after taking a moment to admire the storefront, Kore made her way inside. She'd been dressed fairly casually. Black pants, a black undershirt, and a dark-blue plaid button-up shirt to match her shoes. She made her way over to the front desk and too a seat at the leftmost edge.
Kore chortled to herself.
By this point, Chelsea had already turned to face Kore completely, the spark of interest flaring up in her eyes right around the moment when the word 'paranoid' slipped through Kore's lips.
A silence hung in the air as they both took a moment to process that shitshow. Chealsea slowly turned back to her laptop and Kore just took a moment to relax.

"I take it you got Mrs. Frange's skinwalker problem sorted out?"
Kore chortled to herself.
"Eeeeh, yeah, you could say that," a brief pause, "Actually, the situation over there is kinda fucked, if you want me to be honest."
"You let it get away?"
"No, just... I- lemme- I'll just give you the play by play, okay?"
"Okay"
"So, you read the email. Husband's doing weird shit. Possible skinwalker, right? Well, I get there and, no, it's just a fat, bald guy. No demons. If he's changed, it wasn't because of any of my kin. Guy sees me, shoots a deathglare at his wife, and starts fussing at her about how much of a 'paranoid bitch' she is and they start fighting. And like, by now, I'm ready to leave. But this lady's hanging on to my arm like I'm her fucking bodyguard or something."
By this point, Chelsea had already turned to face Kore completely, the spark of interest flaring up in her eyes right around the moment when the word 'paranoid' slipped through Kore's lips.
"I'm slightly worried what might happen if I do leave, you know? She accuses him of cheating on her. He denies it. I get a ping in my head that tells me that he's lying when he says that, so now it's all kinds of just fucked. I don't even wanna get into the shit that she started lying about. Eventually, I get to the point where I've gotta interject and remind people that I've got other clients to see, right? So things quiet down. And then, this bitch takes me to the side and you know what she says?"
"What?"
"She pulls out two-hundred dollars and stuffs it in my pocket. Looks me dead in the eyes and is like, 'You've got a license to kill, right? Kill my husband and there's more where that came from. I'll back you up on the story that he was a skinwalker the whole time, no sweat' She's deadass serious saying it, too" the look of surprise- no- disbelief on Chelsea's face was something that no human could possibly fake, "Yeah, nah, see, that's the same look I had when I heard that shit. I threw that money back at her and fucking ran, man."
"Should we tell someone about..."
"Nah, let's just stay out of that one. I get paid to kill monsters, that's not-"
"Yeah, that's probably the best decision."
A silence hung in the air as they both took a moment to process that shitshow. Chealsea slowly turned back to her laptop and Kore just took a moment to relax.
"Hey, are you thirsty?"
...
"It that your way of asking me to go make some tea?"
"Maybe."
..
"Alright. I'll be back in a few."
"Thank you!" Kore turned back to the front of the office and sighed as Chelsea retreated to the back, "People crazy out there nowadays."
