It is a sprawling haven, thriving on the back of a vast, mechanical beetle, safe under the carapace from the otherwise all-consuming Corruption as the beetle carries it throughout the wastelands. Against all odds, the people of Hiveholm do not fear for their safety, for they have faith in their strength and the strength of their Queen to overcome even the most powerful foes. It is this very fearlessness that allowed the city to flourish the way it did, the way others failed to do. A self-sustaining utopia with nigh unlimited energy, shining through the darkness like the last burning star. Its People are noble, its Power is unmatched, and its Queen is ever glorious.

Such unrivalled safety and comfort does not come without cost, however, and the people of Hiveholm are trained from a young age to be hardworking and unwavering in their duty to serve their homeland. Work is mandatory, and those caught shirking their duties are put to work in far less favourable conditions than the rest of society. In order to keep the city functioning as optimally as it can, the possible career paths for its People have become incredibly streamlined, splitting into eight key sectors: the Hornet military, the Ant resource managers, the Firefly mechanics, the Moth scholars, the Mantid medics, the Butterfly entertainers, and, above them all, the Bee commanders.

[attr="class",TermitariaTabInlineTwo]On the final day of mandatory education, when the citizen is seventeen or eighteen, a city-wide ritual takes place known as the Chrystening. The Chrystening is widely regarded as the most important day in a citizen's life, as it is the day that they must choose which of the six (or seven, if they're lucky) sectors they would prefer to spend the rest of their life working towards. The ritual is a celebration, and is the first time that many of the citizens from the lower levels of Hiveholm can visit the opulent surface, but the event is heavily guarded. The Chrystening is the perfect time for the Corrupted to attack, after all, and security has tightened even further following the devastating breach seven years ago.

The Chrystening involves taking a special dagger filled with Nectar and stabbing it through a particular body part, and this part varies between factions. Ants get the palms, Butterflies get the eye, Fireflies get the wrists, Hornets get the chest, Mantids get the jaw, Moths get just below the neck, and Bees don't get stabbed at all, but instead simply drink the nectar from a chalice. These wounds heal within a few days- the same amount of time it takes for the mutation to fully manifest.

Whilst the majority of sectors spend most of their time within Hiveholm, it is possible for them to venture out into the corrupting wilderness, albeit with a few precautions. An Ant, piloting a Shell, is able to leave Hiveholm and venture as far as their fuel will allow them, but if a member of another faction would want to venture out, then they must use a Tether Shell, which must be connected via a Nectar cable to a primary Shell. Still, even when outside of Hiveholm, citizens are expected to uphold the ideals and fill the role of their respective server. Deviance is not permitted.

Tasked with maintaining the city's resources, Ants use Nectar to sync with powerful mechs known as Shells, which allow them to venture far from the safety of Hiveholm without falling prey to the Corruption. Whilst Scavenger Ants must constantly face the frightening peril of what lies beyond, after enough years of service, they can be chosen to retire into the far safer role of Cultivator Ants, who run farms instead of being sent outside.

Ants are the only people able to pilot Shells, due to the way Nectar is infused into their bodies. In the cockpit of most Shells are two hollow spikes, which an Ant must impale both their hands on in order to synchronise with the machine. Once synchronised, the Ant can control the Shell as if it were their own body- a process which takes some time to get used to, but means that they don't need to worry about making space for control panels.

In order to safely venture into the Outerworld, Ants must remain inside a Shell at all times. These are Nectar-fuelled mechs, specialised for scavenging, with a large arsenal of defensive tools should the Ant run into any Corrupted. Every Shell is equipped with the following: a long-range Nectar cannon, close-range claws which can be heated at the cost of fuel, a Nectar-infused shield, and a self-destruct switch. Ants of higher standing can request custom upgrades and new weapons from Fireflies and Moths, but these are not always granted.

Trained, powerful soldiers who make up Hiveholm's military, protecting all citizens from the ever-present threat of the Corrupted. Being a Hornet is a dangerous job, as they are expected- nay, required to put their lives on the line for the safety of the People. Armed with lances that inject the Corruption-repelling Nectar, as well as the physical enhancements brought about during their Chrystening, Hornets prove time and time again to be a formidable, insurmountable foe to any forces that threaten the city- including those that come from within. Hornets function as both the military and internal police system (dubbed 'Yellowjackets', taken from their uniform), though the latter is often carried out under the guidance of a Bee.

Every muscle in a Hornet's body is fortified with Nectar, making them far more physically capable than any ordinary human. Swift and powerful, they use these enhancements to deliver devastating attacks to both the Corrupted and the corrupt, using Nectar-infused lances to effortlessly destroy their targets. Hornets are also considerably more durable than other people, able to heal major injuries in a matter of days, and minor ones in a matter of hours.

All Hornets are issued a Stinger lance as soon as they finish training, and this serves as their main weapon throughout the majority of their time in service. A Stinger is a hollow spear filled with Nectar, capable of injecting this Nectar into whatever it impales, causing immense damage to the Corrupted, and some temporary yet still quite severe damage to a human (that and whatever damage would come from being impaled). High-ranking or otherwise notable Hornets are often given specialised weapons to make use of their individual strengths, but are still required to carry the Stinger as part of their uniform.

Black stripes along the sides of the face, back, and arms are the only unique visual indicator of a Hornet, although they all look incredibly strong and athletic.

Moths are scholars and mages, able to harness Nectar in its most primal form and use it to their own great effect. Whilst capable in combat, Moths devote most of their lives to study, and are often tasked with investigating the Corrupted and identifying any anomalies that Ants may bring back. They also work alongside Fireflies with the construction of the Shells, as they are the only ones able to transfer and infuse Nectar without getting hurt.

Moths are able to use Nectar to create various magical effects. Whilst they can't split apart continents with an earthquake or create powerful blasts of light that can tear any creature apart, what they can do is not without its benefits. The standard magical effects Moths are taught are as follows: summoning a small number of sharp crystals, telekinetically moving nearby small objects, creating temporary shields, and summoning spectral weapons of pure Nectar. Those spectral weapons, whilst highly effective against the Corrupted, cannot damage another human being at all. Once a Moth has a good grasp of the basic effects, they are free to specialise- if they're good enough, that is.

To help them in their studies, Moths have access to a wide variety of academic texts and tools, as well as any scientific instruments they may need for their investigations. The only standardised piece of equipment they are given is a silver dagger for self-defense, but many Moths take on spellbooks and other Nectar focuses to help them cast more consistently.

Though some more violently-inclined individuals may look down on those within these sectors, the Queen and her respective Government makes sure that all of Hiveholm sees the value of all sectors, not just the ones with fancy weaponry. After all, it is a blessing to be part of a sector.

There are very few without a sector, and they never live a happy life. It is against the law to not be Chrystened at the correct time, and the punishment is a life sentence- or worse. Still, in the lower levels of Hiveholm, one might very occasionally come across a sectorless individual. Though there is no official term for them from the Government (aside from traitor, that is), they are colloquially referred to as Mosquitoes- after the blood-sucking parasite they most closely resemble. Due to the visible mutations given to every sector, it is easy to tell whether or not someone is a Mosquito, and they are arrested on sight.

Entertainers by nature and by profession, Butterflies help put smiles on faces and keep the People happy. Whilst some may view this faction as somehow lesser than the others, rest assured, they serve a very important purpose. Butterflies are not only in charge of recreational activities, but are also tasked with the distribution of news and information around Hiveholm- including the dates and times of the annual Chrystening rituals.

Butterflies are able to create minor illusions at will. These illusions can be anything- a person, an animal, a burst of confetti, whatever a Butterfly can visualise, they can create. Whilst most new Butterflies only know how to create visual illusions, those who have honed their skill for long enough can create auditory ones as well. On top of this, Butterflies have the ability to change the pigmentation of any part of their body- skin, hair, eyes, the lot. As with illusions, this is difficult to master, and many new Butterflies struggle with it at first, but more experienced Butterflies can change their colour on a cellular level, creating intricate designs in a matter of seconds.

The equipment of a Butterfly depends on what kind of entertainer it is. Artists carry paint, musicians carry instruments, actors carry props, and so on. Most equipment is either bought by the Butterfly themselves, or given as part of a Government grant if the Butterfly is working on a specific project or performance.

Skilled mechanics and metalworkers, the job of the Fireflies is not to be overlooked. They generously lend their talents to help power Hiveholm, constructing a vast and efficient energy system that helps the People thrive. On top of this, they are also put to work creating the Shells that Ants need to survive out in the Outerworld.

Fireflies can use Nectar to generate incredible heat in their hands, enough to use their fingertips as welding torches and allow even the strongest metals to bend in their palm. Whilst this does have some limited combat potential, they instead put it to use in their trade, welding metal together with just a touch and shaping it in ways that would otherwise be impossible. Their ability to generate heat also mean that they are completely invulnerable to dangerous temperature changes, and they are also able to see in complete darkness.

Most Fireflies work from the Central Forge, where they are given as many metalworking tools as they need to get their job done. Some of them, with the help of Moths, create small machines to help them with small tasks, such as fetching materials or delivering messages. Though Fireflies aren't designed for combat, they are issued a standard weapon for self-defense: a brace which attaches to their palm and sprays a highly flammable liquid when pressure is applied, creating a constant stream of fire from the Firefly's heat.

The eyes of a firefly glow under dim light, and their hands glow even brighter when heated. There are intricate, swirling patterns running down from their wrists that are unique for each firefly.

Mantids make up Hiveholm's healthcare system. Skilled and trained doctors, their job is to keep the People healthy and in good condition, dealing with all manner of concerns including disease, injury, and any other condition that might impede a person's function. They work together with Moths and Fireflies to create advanced prosthetics for Ants who have lost a limb from combat or infection, to ensure they can still sync with their Shells.

To help perform surgeries and amputations, Mantids have the ability to grow sharp, sterile blades from their fingertips, and, to help defend themselves and their patients, can grow larger blades along their forearms. On top of this, Mantids have a pair of mandibles on the sides of their heads, which they are able to bring forward to completely cover their mouth and nose, creating a protective seal that prevents them from breathing in any toxins, pathogens, or dangerous particulates in the environment.

All Mantids are required to carry first aid kits on their person at all times. Other than that, they aren't issued much more personal property. Most equipment they use is owned and distributed by the hospitals they work at, and is usually not permitted to be carried out unless they're treating casualties closer to a battlefield.

The Royal Government serves the Queen and manages the city of Hiveholm, organising key events such as the Chrystening, writing and revising the law of the land, and performing other vital duties to ensure that the People are kept in line. Most of the Government lives and operates around the Hive Palace, with the most important and influential figures having their own quarters within the palace walls, and the rest living in the more opulent surface districts around the palace.

On top of this, the Government often sends out Bees to watch over the other sectors- either in routine inspections, or as an overall commander. It is not uncommon to see a Government Bee in another faction, despite having nothing to do with the faction themselves, holding a high level of authority. Bees can put their name down to volunteer for these positions, but they are ultimately chosen based on their personal characteristics, and whether or not they would be a good fit for the job. They don't just get to choose where they work.

Whilst they are not gifted a Royal Halberd, Government Bees are advised to carry a weapon with them at all times, due to the possibility of assassination.

At the very top of the Government lies, of course, the Queen, but she has five Royal Advisors to aid her. These Advisors are the only people permitted to see the Queen in person, and are tasked with relaying information to and from the rest of the Government. Royal Advisors are very rarely seen, and are even more rarely changed.

Ordinary people cannot choose to become a Bee- rather, one must be born into the role. Bees are the lucky few amongst the People to be given the privilege of working in the Hive Palace, usually as guards to the Queen, or as Government officials in charge of running the city. Whilst most Bees choose to take up the royal duties they are offered at their Chrystening, they are given the freedom to select any of the other roles they may desire, and usually rise quickly to the highest ranks of whichever faction they choose. Furthermore, Bees who choose to remain in the Hive Palace can choose to become Royal Guards, spending the majority of their time in the Hive Palace, or can become Government officials, working on judicial matters and overseeing the other factions.

All Bees have the ability to fly, thanks to the presence of a pair of wings on their back. Other than that, they don't have any more inherent enhancements. If a Bee chooses to join another faction at their Chrystening, they will gain the enhancements, equipment, and mutations associated with that faction as well as their own wings, but if they choose to remain a Bee then they will only receive a Royal Halberd.

Some Bees choose to become Royal Guards, meaning that they are tasked with protecting the Queen and working to defend the Hive Palace- the Queen's residence and the main hub for higher Government matters. They are just as well-trained as Hornets are, though they lack the enhancements Hornets have. As such, the outermost layers of the Hive Palace are also occupied by Hornets, who work with the Bees to ensure no trespassers make it into the precious inner sections.

All Royal Guards are issued a Royal Halberd- a halberd that functions similar to a Hornet's Stinger Lance. Infused with Nectar, Royal Halberds are able to cleave through the Corrupted with relative ease, and are light enough to be handled with both swiftness and force. Expertly sharpened, these weapons are also quite formidable to face for human foes.

The better a Royal Guard is, and the longer they've been in service, the further into the Hive Palace they are required to guard. Younger, less capable Bees are usually put on the outside, where the Hornets can pick up the slack. Better and older Bees are tasked with guarding the chambers of Government officials and courtrooms, and are trusted to do so with only other Bees for company. The best of the best, and those who are trusted and respected enough are able to guard the Royal Chambers- a highly prestigious and important position.

The Queen has a small group of personal guards who she hand-picks from the highest-ranking Bees. To be part of this group is considered the greatest honour a Bee can obtain.

HIGHLY recommend joining the channel on rpf discord (just ask for the termitaria role)

Some important thigns to note if youre coming from the old site version of termitaria:
- this takes place 7 years after that fun intro time, which is still canon and ill get it up soon (thanks umbra for the archive)
- a bunch of people died and got hurt it wasnt great. people still talk about this
- mallorys still dead fuck you
- patch notes: everyone can use tether shells now not just hornets

Some important things to note if youre new to termitaria:
- please join the discord and ask for the termitaria role theres a lot of jokes and deeplore
- you dont have to read up on all the deeplore though even i dont know whats going on
- girlboss fascist bug dictatorship on the back of a giant mechanical beetle
- post apocalypse, steampunk, fantasy, relatively low tech level
- aside from the mechs

im gonna write up an intrigue hook soon™ but heres a brief summary: basically someones gonna have stolen some documents and really wants to deliver it to a woman called cricket but theyre being chased by the bug cops (led by this guy quinn sawyer whos sheet is gonna be posted below), main party is going to run into that and get all involved and stuff

this post is temporary i just dont want to write more words than necessary my brain is sawdust

you can make spin-off closed interaction threads before i get the main thing up but get your character sheets up first i would say. all characters from old termitaria are automatically accepted if you still have the sheets kicking around. also you dont have to make a pretty bbcode sheet if you dont want to! no pressure either way, but if you do want to give it a shot then im happy to help explain how it works

He spent a few years working in the Core Labour Facility, watching over the inmates and enforcing the strict rules of the establishment with a somewhat more elevated brand of his usual neurotic perfectionism.

It is likely that the worsening of these tendencies was what drove him to return to a surface job, but there is little evidence to confirm this. What is clear, however, is that Quinn thoroughly despised his time working in the Core, and appears to be just as afraid of returning there himself as those he apprehends are. Still, those who are aware of his sordid history tend to treat him with a little more caution than most. Though he may appear to be just another melancholic enforcer, his connection to the hidden atrocities of Hiveholm make his occasional outburst of fury all the more dangerous.

[attr="class",MiniSheetContent]Though his sphere of influence may be rather small, you would be hard pressed to find anyone within who doesn't have something to say about Quinn Sawyer. As the appointed Bee overseer of a moderately sized Yellowjacket squad, he is known throughout the areas he patrols as an uptight and miserable man whos only redeeming quality is the irregularity with which he carries out his job. Quinn has sometimes been noted to walk right past certain openly criminal actions to save him having to deal with them- most often at the end of his shift when he would clearly much rather go home.

None of this has been reported, of course. For one, his selective blind eye has saved many a citizen from forced re-education, and... well, if he was to be reported, he would probably come down pretty hard on whoever blew the whistle. That's not something anyone wants.

For as disinterested as Quinn appears for the most part, there is the odd occasion where he actually takes his job seriously- and perhaps a bit too far. Nobody knows what exactly will send him flying off the handle. Sure, there are certain things that usually correlate--he absolutely despises uncleanliness, for example--but sometimes it appears as though he would explode into violent rage over absolutely nothing at all. The Hornets in his squad know to keep their distance whenever he seems a bit off, but there have been many a time where a minorly felonious citizen wouldn't have got the memo- and would have got a far more severe and immediate punishment than they were expecting.

In his private life, Quinn is pretty much how one would expect him to be: a quiet, private man with unchecked trauma and an almost disordered obsession with cleanliness. He has very few friends, though many lower-ranking Bees look up to him as a shining example of... something. Knowing them, it's probably one of arrogance. Knowing him, they're probably just as delusional as he... was. As he was.

Bees of his position are not issued a Stinger or a Royal Halberd, but that doesn't mean he's not armed. Quinn carries with him a long pole-axe with a large head bearing an intricate design- the folded wings of a butterfly, with a blade on the outer border and clear, refractive crystal filling in the gaps. The distinctiveness of this weapon is where he got his nickname, the Glasswing Overseer, from, but he never mentions where the weapon is from.

He... well, he never mentions a lot of things, actually. He never mentions the weapon, nor how he got to his position so quickly, nor where he was during a mysterious five-year gap in his service. Ah, that's another thing to avoid if you'd rather not be on the receiving end of that pole-axe- Quinn doesn't take too kindly to people who ask questions.

Backstory:
There were days when it helped you sleep, when the footfalls came with their own rhythm, like a great maestro setting the pace for the band. One two three four one two three four one two three four. Like that, again and again. And on those days, it was easy to forget.

Then, there were those other nights where the legs never found their rhythms. Times when Louise could feet each strike pounding in her head as comfort eluded her and there came nothing soothing and black to quiet her mind and grant her something like peace. And those were the nights Louise was left to wonder, was he trampled after he fell?

Would they all be?

Those were the sorts of days you needed to press the pillow to your ears to wish and wish and wish the nightmare away until you feel the thrumping in your bones and all you can do is wonder is that how she felt when the stones cut her flesh?

And, when luck would strike, something dark would finally carry you away.

Eventually morning arrives with a knock at the door and your eyes will open. You’ll find there a mother or a father, yours, the ones that took you despite what troubles it might bring. And you’ll hug them, squeeze them, cling to them like a stranded man to the final rock in the sea because if you don’t, this dream too might end.

Personality:
She enjoys it, you know, existing in that space between continued existence and utter annihilation. There’s a sort of purpose to be had in that space, an understanding that so long as the eyes are watching then something must still be working. She is dedicated sort, once her mind is set on something there is little that can dissuade her from continuing to pursue her ultimate goal. And, if some rules need to bend until they break here or there, if she finds she needs to tell a lie until she even becomes uncertain where the truth actually lies then so be it.

After all, some things are worth the gamble, are they not?

If her parents bothered to name her, no one ever found out what it was. Her mother was exiled as soon as the child was born, a stay of sentence having been granted only that long on the child's behalf. No father was ever known or named. The girl was raised communally, more or less, mostly by other children, who are not necessarily kind, especially to a small girl with no family to defend her. She learned to fight back, and fight hard, and by the time anyone thought to name her, "Little Fury" had become as much of a name as anything ever would be.

She grew up hard, learning to channel her anger but never quite tempering it. Hiveholm, with all its glories, has always been a source of disgust for her, and the driving force behind her Chrystening choice is the need to get away from it as much as possible. Despite all that, Fury's relationship with Hiveholm is complex - in many ways she wants very little to do with it, but in other ways that she would never admit, she very much wants to prove that an angry girl can still be useful. Maybe if she makes something of herself, some of the anger will fade.

Or maybe the best thing she'll be able to do with her life is to fight for someone else more worthy.

Fury's Chrystening as an ant has given her access to the crafted Shells, and in her Shell she has finally found a place where she truly feels at home. She spends more time in her Shell than out of it - even when she's not necessarily on a trip outside the Hive, often even sleeping in the confines of the Shell. As such, the wounds on her hands never truly heal, and whenever she's out of the Shell she tends to wear gloves, not because she's particularly bothered by them, but because people tend to dislike her bleeding on things.

Despite a tendency to get into fights when she's outside the Shell, Fury's temperament inside the Shell is far more collected, her reserves of anger directed outward, at anything that might threaten her Hive. Only when she's away from Hiveholm is she really aware of the importance of the place and how much it means to her - and everyone else. She's more than happy to engage with anything that might come her way, protecting her fellow Ants as they work to complete their tasks, and in completing her own tasks, Fury has a reputation for fearlessness. It's not so much that she isn't afraid, merely that her reaction to fear is - as it always has been - to rage at it.

Fury has the distinction of being one of the survivors of the Chrystening debacle of seven years ago. While she was able to be Chrystened there and become an Ant as she chose, the subsequent attack by enemy forces would not leave her unscarred. When grounded, Fury walks with a permanent limp in her left leg from an injury at the hands of one of the Corrupted. Often she uses a cane to help her get around Hiveholm, though she prefers to spend as little time there as possible. Her disability doesn't affect her when she's piloting a mech, and she feels much more comfortable there than anywhere else.

The mental scarring is just one more aspect that will never leave her. The nightmares never really left. She tried drinking them away for a while, but it didn't help. The only thing that really chases away the memories is getting out, away from Hiveholm. Fury is well aware that one of these days, she'll go out there and not come back. It's only a sense of duty that keeps her from seeking that day even sooner.

Hi, I’m Nii Skurberry. We’re Nii Skurberry. And if you’re reading this, it means you’ve just woken up and have no idea what’s going on. Perhaps you don’t recognize the people around you. Perhaps you don’t recognize yourself. That’s what this journal is for. Keep it close, keep it safe.

Let’s begin.

Firstly, this is past Nii writing this. Yes, it’s fine that you don’t remember. We’ll get to that. We need to start at the beginning. We are the only son of Maria and Einholm Skurberry, two of the finest Hornets that Hiveholm has ever seen. We didn’t have a bad childhood, per say, but it was clear that they wanted us to follow in their footsteps, to join them in donning the stripes that set them above the commoners. From a young age they took turns training us in combat and physical activities, clearly priming us for our eventual Chrystening. And they barely hid the disappointment in their eyes as we turned away from physical pursuits to focus on study and research.

We practically lived in the library, and loved learning. We’d stay up way too late, reading all we could about the history of Hiveholm, finding the schematics of much older versions of the Shells, reading about how Moths could perform magic. We absolutely got into trouble for trying to sneak into restricted sections far too many times. Books and knowledge were two of our rather slim circle of friends. It got to the point where we nearly slept through our own Chrystening. Part of me almost wishes we had.

It was horrible. We’d just gotten Chrystened, chosen our new path in life as a Moth, and hell broke loose. Corrupted attacked in an oddly organized fashion, led by an odd bone creature nobody had seen before. We managed to somehow channel the raw power we had just gotten into a lightning bolt before passing out. Most of our friends made it. Most.

Since then we’ve spent most of our time split between studies and practice. We’ve been studying corruption, looking into the Corrupted and any accounts of them being even remotely human since the last one spoke to us. We’ve also been practicing our magic, for both combat and utility. We’re working on the standards, but we’ve also been secretly trying to practice more advanced techniques, searching through the archives for any trace mentions of more powerful magical abilities granted to Moths through their study. With any luck, we’ll find something.

This part is a bit difficult to write, I don’t personally like writing about myself. Plus, I think we’re a bit skewed. However, I’ve gotten all of this vetted by someone else to confirm that it’s true. We want to learn things. That’s half the reason we became a Moth, isn’t it? We want to know more and more, we want to do more and more, we want to be more and more. Everything we learn today makes us more than we were yesterday, takes us another step away from those stripes. And we will keep pushing until we get there.

That got dark, yikes. Let’s lighten the mood a bit. Friends, who needs them? We do. We have a handful of friends that we tend to hang around. Making friends isn’t exactly easy for us, so we cherish the ones we do have. We’d do anything for them, including making the ultimate sacrifice if we had to. Hell, we almost did during the Chrystening.

Oh right, why is this all written down? Why don’t you remember any of it? Well, now that you’ve read it, I bet it’s all starting to come back, huh? While there’s no technical name for it, I personally like to call it Prompted Long-Term Memory Loss. We had an issue when we were beginning Moth training. We tried to go too far, too fast, buzzing too close to the sun. Our magic backfired and ended up knocking us unconscious. When we woke up we couldn’t remember anything at all. No clue who we were, wouldn’t let anyone near us. The only thing we had was our cloak, and we clung to that like a child. Refused to let anyone take it away from us. Eventually our friends came and helped us write the first version of this. That’s why this journal exists. So we can remember who we are, what we are, what we’ve done, and those closest to us.

By now you remember who we are, and it’s all come back. Well, not all of it. The rest of this journal has everything and everyone we know that we’ve deemed worth remembering. Our friends are in here, as is our story. Add to it Nii, make sure today is worth remembering.

Nii stands around 5'3" (1.6 meters) tall. He has long feathery antennae that come down to around his jawline, which he keeps tucked behind his ears. However, they tend to hang in his face while he's reading/working. His general outfit consists of a simple shirt, pants, and boots. Kept under his arms are two book holsters: one for his personal journal, the other for his research notebook. A pouch on his side carries the various components required for his spells, as well as the dagger all Moths carry. While he doesn't wear it while working in the forges, Nii wears his large fluffy cloak literally everywhere else, making it easier to look for the cloak in a crowd than to look for him.

All day everyday, Samatha Friday von Schneider sings to herself, mostly out of boredom, but the singing also helps her not to think about the horrific things her hands transpire on the pitiful creatures that die from her lance. The corrupted have made human lives miserable. The station outside isn't bad, and it's very eventful during her shift. Kill, throw them off and do the same thing everyday and everyday. She doesn't mind. The mutation she underwent was incredible. She could heal. That was the best in her opinion. She was allowed to be a bit reckless- and out here, there was no one to judge as long as she did her job, so it was gucci.

Toned black muscles, brown eyes, standing at almost 7 feet, Samantha was brought up in an orphanage. Her parents and their parents were hornets, so you could say all that nectar enhancement basically bred her to be the specimen she had grown up to be. Her favored weapon is of course a standard issue lance of the Yellow Jackets- and the standard armor.

EQUIPMENT

1) Lance: Sam is especially proficient in the use of her lance to quickly deliver the corrupted to the grave. It's reach also serve the purpose of keeping her at a relatively safer distance from where she can anticipate the movements of the corrupted and react in accordance.

2) Shield: While not standard to the Yellow Jackets, she picked up a Beetle Carapace from a corrupted that she found could even resist a few of her lance thrusts. She polished it and shaped it with a handle welded to the inside of it that she usually wears on her back (serves to protect her back when she retreats).

3) Yellow Jacket: It is built so that it can protect its wearer from multiple kinds of acids. And in that, the Jacket and its accompanying hood serves Sam very well in battles. Though, even if acids spill onto her exposed skin, its still just a minor convenience and a burn that heals quite easily.

Evelyn Moravi never knew her father. Her mother never liked to talk about him, either, and the few times he did come up, she didn't have anything good to say. She didn't mind - it was what she grew up with, and she couldn't picture life any other way. Her mother was a Mantid, of course, just like her mother before, and her mother before. She worked out of a block hospital in Greater Apiary as a head surgeon, and as such, their way of life was above average, despite only having one source of income. Not lavish, and even if they could afford it, her mother's spartan sensibilities wouldn't touch the thought, but - comfortable.

Throughout school, grades were never an issue. Her mother expected her to succeed, so she succeeded. Her mother expected her to excel, so she excelled. Living under the pressure never seemed to make her crack. If anything, she seemed to thrive on it, thrive on the understanding that - even if she went beyond her best - that would just be seen as the next stepping stone in progress. She socialized. She made friends. All the while, she kept striving for more.

Things were looking promising come Chrystening. Her mother's hospital had a single opening, and with her recommendation, she'd doubtless get the role. A fast track to a position in surgery, shadowing some of the best in the block. She'd be able to give back to much to the Hive. Tending to the upper echelons of society, the people who kept society running, who kept everything in check. The people who gave them life. The people who gave them hope.

She wouldn't have guessed that the first people she tended to as a Mantid wouldn't be clean patients in white hospital rooms, but the torn and mangled bodies of her classmates in makeshift clinic tents.

It all went downhill, from there. Pressure seemed to affect her differently. Before, things made sense. Working under deadlines encouraged her to push herself harder, scant encouragement made her strive for the little bits of praise she could find. Now, their faces were in her head. She saw them in every broken arm that needed setting, every laceration that needed to be stitched. She wasn't cut out for this. She couldn't handle this. But she'd made her choice, hadn't she? She'd given her entire life to this, and if she wasn't cut out for it, if she couldn't give back to the Hive what they expected of her - a murderer through your own wasteful negligence. Taking time to herself meant people dying. Walking away from her duty meant people dying.

People died in preventable ways every day. If she wasn't there to help them, she was the one that killed them. They were her classmates, torn apart by a creature she didn't understand, dying from wounds she'd only ever seen in textbooks. The faces were in her head, and they had their faces too.

Her demeanor suffered, from the thoughts. She didn't make the job at her mother's hospital. She barely made it as a clinician, and even then, only in a part of the Hive where water clung to the walls of her apartment and mold grew in the pantry. She didn't care. The apartment was only a place to sleep. Working, working, working, until - her third year into her job at the corner clinic - she took a little white pill to try and make the faces go away. It worked, for a time, even as she felt guilty taking it. Stealing resources from the Hive, from people who needed it far more than she did. People suffering from incurable cancers, from limbs cracked by unsafe equipment, from lungs turned black by environment or vice. The guilt of taking the pills was far less of the guilt she'd feel if she couldn't do her job. Besides, it was hard to stop, once she started. The faces would come back sooner and sooner, the tiny moments of calm shorter and shorter. She raised the dose. She knew how to be safe about these things. She knew her limits.

Still, she was afraid of the day she'd reach that. She was afraid of when she'd take that dose and the faces wouldn't go away.

Until then, though - until then - she gave to the Hive to keep the blood off her hands. It was, after all, what she'd been taught her entire life.
