GIMMICK Core: Maggie is, to put it mildly, a bit of a mess. The doctors call it generalized anxiety, but labels make her a bit nervous, y'know? Whatever the case, every little thing makes her the teensiest bit on edge. Loud noises? Check. Wide open halls? Check. Getting called on in class? Check, check, check. Because of this, she's incredibly avoidant. She does her best to leave situations that make her uncomfortable - no, that's an understatement. She bolts as fast as she can out of situations that make her uncomfortable. Even when she isn't running headlong out of the room, she's always a little tightly wound, ready to startle at a moment's notice.
Primary Ability: Whenever the going gets tough, the situation is too stressful, or she sees herself in any sort of danger, Maggie's primary ability instinctively activates, instantly teleporting her to a nearby, immediately safe location with a faint pop. This is, of course, often incredibly inconvenient - the situation can be anything that makes her too anxious, whether it's an actual risk, like having a gun drawn on her, or something relatively harmless, like getting ambushed into a conversation. Additionally, while the new location must be safe, it isn't always favorable. On many an occasion, she's gotten surprised in school and ended up blinking into a closed locker. Frankly, it's embarrassing, but what's a girl to do?
Signature Ability - Uh?: Frankly, she's amazed this school took her on at all, with how useless her power is, and you think she has a signature ability? Um. Maybe screaming really loud and throwing whatever's in reach? She'll get back to you with that.
GIMMICK Compromise: Sometimes it feels like her gimmick is all compromises and no benefits. She scares easily, rarely makes friends, has trouble getting anything of note done, and to top it all off, the stupid power she got doesn't even work right. A teleport you can't control? Really? It's kinda pathetic.
Biography:
Oh great, here it goes. Her parents are the L'ordures. Yeah, those L'ordures, owners and proprietors of the L'ordure Luxury Hotels and Estates. L'ordure means luxurious! You know the saying. Well, growing up with good old mom and dad was never easy for her. You'd think after the fifth international attempt to audit them would scare them straight, right? But nope, they just shift their money from Sweden to Morocco, pull a few strings, and pin the blame on one of their hotel managers in Kuwait. That's not the thing that scares her, though - to be honest, it'd be a bit of a load off her shoulders if they got arrested. No, it's whatever black-suit syndicate they owe money to. Try being seven, having guys in shades threaten your parents with a knife the room over, and not grow up a neurotic mess.
Anywho, the whole reason she's at this school in the first place is because of them. They, bless their souls, decided to set her on the straight and narrow and have her grow up to be one of those Stars the world fauns over. Their daughter, a hero! That, and the fact a big news story broke about their shady assets around the time her gimmick manifested. Talk about convenient! Rich person scandal number 467 is so last season, heiress to a hotel empire-turned hero is the new vogue! Or whatever. It sucked, but she couldn't exactly say she had any plans for her life, and - well - it's a noble cause. It's dangerous, true, but there's no way they'd send someone like her into a bad place -
It is that deep rooted animalistic fear that gnaws at the edges of conscious thought when you are alone at night. The sort that screams danger and prickles the little hairs on the back of your neck. It is that feeling of looking at something that should not be seen or being somewhere where you are not meant to be. To be in Yuuki’s presence is to be near something that you wish to escape from. Even if you know better, even if logic tells you that you shouldn’t feel that way, all the same you want to escape.
Because her presence is terror, and the only way to feel safe is to keep her at an arm’s length.
Deep down Yuuki has insecurities about how she forms relationships, and this core seems to manifest itself around it. Easier to maintain relationships when they never seem to fully for, when all the people in them aim to keep it friendly at best. Enough distance to feel comfortable to feel detached. Enough that a smile and a wave can do all the work necessary to keep a relationship together for another day.
Primary Ability Force of Will: Being in Yuuki’s presence tends to make one feel small, unimpressive, lesser. Like you are weak, and unable to match up against the person who stands before you. You will feel as if it is better to submit than to face her, that nothing you could do would ever have any chance to touch her, so why bother? Why try? She is better than you are, and it would be wrong of you to make her prove it.
Whispers in the Dark: [Acquired Later] If she focuses, Yuuki can cause minor distortions in the minds of those around her. She can make you hear things that were never said, see things that never were, smell things that never could.
Signature Ability Lingering Terror
With activation of her signature the fears of her opponents begin to weigh them down. The more they fear Yuuki, the more of a gap they believe to be between her and themselves the more they are weakened. This affects a whole manner of different aspects, from the basic leeching of strength or physical defenses, to the straining of one's mental fortitude and any powers that they might possess. If true fear strikes them to their core, they might become someone even Yuuki could defeat in a single strike.
GIMMICK Compromise She is lonely at times. Relationships often feel hard to build and even harder to maintain as if one misstep could crash the house of cards to the ground. Perhaps it’s simply personal hang ups, an inability to fully commit to a relationship, to commit to connecting with another and placing trust on the line, or perhaps it’s simply just an outcome of everyone being afraid of you when all you ever wanted to do was say hi. It’s hard, after all, to connect when everyone is walking on eggshells.
Or, perhaps there isn’t as much difference between those two as Yuuki would care to admit?
===
Biography: All her life, people always seemed wary of her. Perhaps not quite frightened, but unwilling to draw her ire, unwilling to give her a reason to be angry. Schoolyard bullies gave her space, backed away from their targets if she called them out on what they were doing. When she was younger, people simply said that it was due to her eyes. She had the hard stare of someone it was smart to not anger, and conscious of it or not, people did their best to keep on her good side. Sure she was easily a foot shorter than most in middle school, and scrawny in elementary school, but she moved like someone who could cause mountains to recede.
She never really had many friendships, or what she would consider a full friendship to be. She got along with people, sure, but it always felt somewhat strained, so Yuuki always cherished what few easy friendships she did have with people who did not seem like they were trying to keep her happy. Even children can pick up on a false pretense behind a smile.
The town she was born to was small, an insignificant speck which was lucky to make it onto any maps, her athletic teams lucky to get to semi-state, but their community close-knit. Her family ran a grocery store which sold goods produced from nearby farms, so she picked up a few standards which she tries to hold to when cooking. Not to say she hasn't broken down and used processed foods before, simply that she attempts not to use them when she can, as she knows that would distress her mother to know she was eating poorly. Not that it ever deterred her brother any. But that's a different story for another time.
It was a chance encounter that she ran into the person who would eventually choose to sponsor her, she was spending some time away from the family store with friends when they happened by one another on the street. The man was simply passing through on his way to somewhere more important when he caught her eye and saw potential.
A chance to see the world beyond her little town? To help others? Yuuki jumped at the chance!
After some prodding by her parents.
Appearance:
//... into the dark she stepped, but never did she feel free of the gaze...//
GIMMICK Core It’s all about taking chances, you know? Sometimes it doesn’t even really matter what the chance being taken is, it’s fun to give it a shot and see what the outcome is. There are times where it’s not worth it, of course, times where you draw the short straw but that’s fun in its own right, and knowing what it’s like to lose only makes winning sweeter. Yeah, Camilla is here to take whatever chances she needs to, because that’s just what she wants to do. It’s nothing about the logic of it, sometimes you know it’s a bad move, but what if it wasn’t?
So, come on now, heads or tails what will it be?
Primary Ability Gambler’s Choice Camilla makes a bet with her opponent, the nature of the bet must relate to either the fight or activity that she and her opponent are about to engage in. In her bet Camilla must define how she will defeat her opponent and so long as she works within the parameters she set forth her power will be boosted. If for example she makes a bet that she can defeat you with her eyes closed, so long as she doesn’t open her eyes her other senses will be greatly sharpened. If she breaks the bet before the end of the fight or activity she will be greatly weakened.
She can do other bets as well, say attempting to call a coin toss with a correct call increasing physical attributes and failed calls finishing them.
Signature Ability Who knows, maybe she just hasn’t hit the right tails yet?
GIMMICK Compromise It starts off small, a coin toss perhaps to see who gets to use the remote or who gets to have the last slice of cake, but it grows doesn’t it? You start to find there’s a thrill of being on an edge, a shot of adrenaline that accompanies the fear of losing. And you chase after that feeling, taking bigger and bigger risks as you go. Where does chasing that thrill end? When you step too far and hit rock bottom?
=== Biography: It’s hard to say if the city makes the person or if the person makes the city, but no matter which it is, Camilla is definitely a child of a certain town of gambling and vice. Now, it’s a story you can guess the beats to. Her father had a habit, one he never managed to break. Built himself quite a debt though. Her mother was a clear headed sort, but try as she might she never could stop him. Now, there was family woes there, but debts come due when you owe them to the wrong sort of people.
Now, Camilla cut her teeth on those sorts of men flipping queens and spinning shells out in the park. It’s hard to say when her Gimmick took shape, she always was a girl who had a talent for winning her bets. A shame her father never had the same talent.
So, when hope seemed lost and those nasty sort of people who would give a loan to the sort of man with a problem and no talent to win came knocking, this family that was down in its luck received a lifeline. A certain school on a particular island was looking for children with the sort of talents Camilla had, and was willing to pay off a debt for the honor of teaching her to use them.

Just a short thought experiment. People, when you think about it, are extremely complex creatures with a lot of arbitrary rules and behaviours. Human beings have a remarkable ability to read and empathize with others, which allows them to learn to fit in from birth. What happens if you weren't born with these tools? What if you couldn't look at someone and intuit what they think, how they feel? Wouldn't you have to experiment to find out? After all, asking isn't useful; people can and do lie all the time, you know. It's just another one of our interesting foibles. All hypothetical of course, Tsubasa is completely normal, she swears.
Say, what makes you tick?
Primary Ability:
Blood Reveler
Tsubasa can telekinetically control her blood, forming blades and other sharp objects. Her control is both more powerful and finer when some part of the construct is in contact with her. It also seems like she's unaffected by bleeding out more than would be lethal for most, and minor wounds seal up quickly.
For now, she still hasn't really tested her limits, so this Gimmick isn't liable to stay so simple.
Signature Ability:
Mmm, dunno. This one's gonna need more experimentation and field testing.
Gimmick Compromise:
The fact that the interests and methods that make the Gimmick are so alien means that her power does actually come from being curious about the human condition as no healthy person would.
Biography: Tsubasa lived the most normal life a girl could have; loving parents, normal siblings, the works. Which makes is pretty embarrassing when the call came in that she was in police custody. Look, in her defense, there was this guy, right? Ever since she manifested this blood spike thing, she wanted to try it out, and he looked like the perfect target, 'kay? A couple of screams and an emergency dial later, she was packed off to a police station. And for what? It's not her fault the policewoman mistook the blood all over her arm for someone else's. Sometimes she forgot how much people would react to stuff that was clearly non-lethal. During processing, some dude in a suit, you know the sort, asked if she'd rather go to prison or join a new school. Hell, if there was ever an easy choice.

Name: Julian Kaiser Gender:Male Age:17 === GIMMICK Name Steel Titan GIMMICK Core- An iron resolve, and a righteous heart. When an injustice presents itself there needs to be someone to face it head-on! That's the role of a hero, the bastions of mortality and heralds of hope and peace! When monsters show themselves its the duty of a hero to destroy it; all evil must be eliminated after all. This is expressed well through Julians "Steel Titan". An extreme yearn for justice, and putting all heroes in very high regards. Having a family member who as well was in those ranks as well only further fueled praise. Primary Ability- He can envelop a single limb at a time, in a dense film of Iron. Signature Ability GIMMICK Compromise- 1-The weight of the world can break a man; but sometimes you need to make a sacrifice, even if it costs you everything. Over extending doesn't just put an enormous strain on his body, but Julian risks crushing that part of his body.
2-It's frustrating having such a limited ability. Especially when other people have either such cool ones that seem like they can do so much more. Julian often finds himself getting very frustrated with his own ability and application; resulting in tunnel vision and him constantly trying to out-perform everyone else. Adding to the pressure of him wanting to bring in. === Biography: What can be said about Julien? His life didn't revolve around many unique factors. He wasn't rich, but wasn't poor either. He wasn't some school genius but he wasn't the school idiot. But what he did have was hope. Heroes, from the Stars Organization of all creeds and types all fighting for the same cause; for justice! Okay maybe a minor detail was missing....that his Dad was a hero. That's a little important maybe. He wasn't anything special though! A decently well known hero who didn't do too bad in the rankings and had a good standing! Everything he believed, everything Julien was taught was from him.
But everything changed so fast. That wonderful world was shattered through a simple report. "Traitor..."
His father, the man Julian aspired to the most, a murderer. It was during a battle, a monster attacked and his father was dispatched with them. It was reported, that when the smoke cleared, his father had killed not only the monster but the group as well. Joining the rogue group known as "BlackStars" Julien was shattered. Filled with grief, not even believing it at first.
Then after a year Julien decided he was going to become a Star, find his dad and bring him in. To bring about justice, for the comrades he slain, and to redeem his family name. Because that's what a hero does.
GIMMICK Core The world is a large place, not meant to be traversed with mere two legs - but mankind domineers Earth through sheer tenacity and ingenuity, not so much adapting to its environment as creating tools to shape it. Technology is the crux of humanity, and with the advent of vehicular transport, distance and travel is a mere plaything in man's hands.
Humans are second to their own inventions. This is the way Kaoru thinks. It is his belief that vehicles - cars, ships, planes, to name the least obscure of them - are humanity's greatest invention. Even the concept of weaponry is less versatile in his mind. Getting to somewhere before anything else arrives is a tactical advantage all on its own.
Though it would be remiss to ignore combat-oriented vehicles, of course. Kaoru just thinks speed is oftentimes more important than an auto cannon capable of penetrating an inch of steel plate at two-thousand rounds a minute, or the ability to fire high-explosive squash head projectiles at enemies, no matter how powerful and aesthetically pleasing it would be.
Primary Ability -Vehicular Manifestation Kaoru, against the common understanding of the law of conservation of mass and other physics laws that may apply, has the ability to transform into any vehicle he has studied before. The resulting vehicle will tend to malfunction if he has not sufficiently studied the inner workings of it beforehand, but will otherwise remain indistinguishable from others of the same make and model.
Currently, no small amount of focus is needed for Kaoru to start a transformation. Turning into smaller vehicles requires less time to concentrate than larger ones, with a few seconds required for a motorcycle and almost a minute for something like an SUV. An oil tanker would be much too large to transform into. Fighter jets, helicopters, and tanks are currently out of Kaoru's league for the moment, though he strives to someday attain the capability to turn into each. Turning back into a human, however, is nearly instantaneous.
While in his vehicular state, Kaoru describes windshields and side-view mirrors serving as his eyes and ears respectively, though he is still capable of sight and hearing through unknown means if missing. He can achieve communication if the vehicle has a radio installed, and can pilot it as if there was an invisible driver inside.
Signature Ability -N/A Kaoru isn't aware of any other Gimmicks that are quite like his, but promises to inform the necessary personnel if his Gimmick is no longer unique to him.
GIMMICK Compromise Staying in a vehicular state for a long period of time has a tendency to make Kaoru forget how to operate a human body. Temporarily forgetting to how to breathe occurs after several hours, with Kaoru needing at least a few minutes to recuperate.
Sustaining enough damage as a vehicle translates to physical injury. Tires being slashed might result in Kaoru getting cuts on his legs, and shattering a window may lead to severe bruising. He immediately returns to human form against his control if enough damage is done to his vehicle form.
===
Biography: With a mechanically-inclined father and a stay-at-home mother, Kaoru discovered his gimmick at the age of 14 whilst being taught the basics of car maintainance at home in his garage. His parents were bemused by his unique ability at first, but after forcing him to take driving lessons, slowly became supportive of his subsequent decision to become a Star.
Kaoru is somewhat of a fence-sitter when it comes to many things, from arguments between friends to important life choices. He toes the line between indifference and indecision in day-to-day life, rarely finding the drive to find ambitions beyond "I should figure out how to turn into a main battle tank" and "I shouldn't make any enemies at my new school".

Character Sheet
Name:Mallika Atsadavutpudhinan (Just call her "Mary") มัลลิกา อัษฎาวุธภูดินันท์
Gender:Female
Age:15
GIMMICK Name
Under Pressure
GIMMICK Core-
There's a lot expected of her, a lot on her shoulder. It's always said she's the love and pride of her family, and every time she was praised, she was happy. It feels great to make her family proud, but that goal requires a constant, steady, and grueling effort. What's with all the friends around her being just as much of an overachiever like her. The only way forward would be to be better, and so Mary did.
That's a lot of pressure on a young girl's shoulder.
But Mary doesn't break under pressure. She learned how to convert overwhelming weight on her metaphorical shoulder into a metaphorical pin point focus. All that expectation to achieve, all the checklist, all the medals her school offered, she will reach out to all of them. Nothing else mattered except for that beaming smile of pride her parents and teachers had for her every time she successfully nabbed then.
Until one day, she converted the weights that was pushed on her into a pin point focus, literally.
Primary Ability - Focus! No Pressure!
Mary can bend physics by spreading or focusing any forces that are acting on her, as well as forces she is acting on other object. Knife doesn't cut her unless she lets down her guard, and her kick can easily cut through wood like an axe. The action and the reaction can be influenced differently, meaning that while the tree she kicked had the force focused into a razor's edge line, her leg felt like it's kicking a boxing pad as the force spread out over the surface of her shin.
Of course, Mary had no idea what pressure actually is. She's bad at physics and math in general. She never gave up trying to score higher though!
Signature Ability - Wait what? Wasn't that quirk enough? Wait what do I do next then? I--
GIMMICK Compromise-
Mary has one problem, however, she's not very good at coming up with what to do. You give her a target, and she will charge at it. However, when there's no obvious target, she's just lost. Mary spent her life under pressure and clear directions, and without them, she's at a loss.
Her quirk had also dulled her natural sensation. Mary's sense of self preservation became something she had forgotten about, and it's only a matter of time before she finds out what kind of damage will go through her defense
Biography:
Like every children her age in a certain country in South East Asia, putting one's child through loads of cram schools and extra curricular activity was the fad. Mary was no exception. Math cram school, English lesson, Chinese lesson, Tennis, Piano, Violin, swimming, Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai, Mary has done it all. The exception, however, was that Mary quickly proved herself to be excellent at anything physical.
While most children her age either become good at one thing, or just stay average at everything, Mary simply failed her Math class. She also was politely told to drop Piano and Violin after her tutor couldn't take her playing anymore, and the only reason she could speak English was because she was sent to an international school. That was what she was bad at. What she was good at though? Sports. Mary was the star athlete of her school, taking medals for absolutely any category available. Mary was the fastest runner, the hardest hitter in, the furthest thrower, and also the most graceful gymnast.
The only reason she wasn't repeating any years was due to all of those ridiculous achievement. Her parents, while somewhat uneasy at the thought of their daughter not being able to deal with 2 digits multiplication, was extremely proud nonetheless. Mary enjoyed letting her energy loose, and what she enjoyed even more was seeing how much pride her parents have for her.
After an accident where she broke her boxing coach's arm, Shounen Academy quickly came to resolve the matter. Mary's skin was silky smooth, thanks to the fact that Mary had never bled anymore for some reason after about a few years back. Nothing could cut her either, and her kick was like a blade. Her coach's arm was less of a broken arm, and more of a major cut injury with fractured arm. The academy offered Mary a place at their prestigious school for young heroes after that accident. Mary's parents didn't force her to attend Shounen Academy, feeling that it may be a dangerous occupation to have, but since Mary felt like she had done something very very horrible and wanted to do anything to make up for it, enthusiastically agreed to the arrangement anyway.
GIMMICK Core: Being known--truly known and understood--is the worst feeling in the world. Life is so much easier when you can see the rest of the world before it sees you. Iris’ gimmick makes her very good at seeing things. Having seen them, she can prepare for them.
Primary Ability: By touching an inanimate object, she can cause a living eye to grow on it. She is capable of seeing through any eye she's placed, though they wither over the course of a few hours if she doesn't maintain physical contact with them. She can also only see through two at a time. While watching through one of her placed eyes, she can paralyze any living thing she can see, though the paralysis only applies to the parts of a person she can actually observe.
Signature Ability: She's not worked this out yet.
GIMMICK Compromise: Iris wants perfect control over herself. She wants to be able to present the perfect front to the world--calculated to be as inoffensive and unobtrusive as possible. When it comes to everyday life, though, she’s not very good at planning; not very good at outcomes. When things go wrong, she tends to blank out--to find another set of eyes to watch the world from, and continue on from that vantage point as if nothing is wrong.
“The only thing that ever stopped me being exactly who I wanted,” she said, “was the worry that I would soon be dead … and now I am dead, and I am sick of roses, and I am horny for revenge.” -Harrow the Ninth, by Tamsyn Muir
