"Oh, CK is one hundred percent going to punch him for that one. No nightclub workers is his whole thing." It hadn't gone too well the last time Mack had tried to get CK with someone like that. Cam thought the experience might have turned Mack away from trying again with their friend, but clearly he was wrong. This time could be it, they would always hear him say; it never was, but eventually CK had to crack and at least allow a date before swearing everyone off for the sake of being 'too busy'. He shook his head at the thought, the amused smile never leaving his lips as he moved around the kitchen before he grabbed his food. Leaning back against the counter, he turned his attention back to Brinley while he took a bite from the burrito he held. "I think mine stands a chance. Mack will side with me once he stops by the restaurant and sees her," Cam told her, covering his mouth while he chewed for a moment. What fun was it if Cam couldn't get in on it? He was just glad Mack's attention wasn't on his own love life. "CK probably has a gut feeling the three of us are making a bet on him, in a way."
Brinley rolled her moss green eyes at him, twirling a strand of her hair as if in thought. They usually did make bets about this type of stuff, but that's about as far as Brinley got involved in the situation. It was too much work to keep an eye out on the "perfect fit" and she didn't feel like being a target for CK's wrath like Mack has been. CK's anger didn't seem to faze the guy, he had too much pep to be torn down. A good thing she supposed, someone needed to remain a positive fixture in this otherwise bleak world. Mack was a ray of sunshine, but of course he did have his bad days too. He was level-headed in a way where he wouldn't just throw a punch without thinking like she or CK would; he was not a calm spirit though. "You two are gonna get hurt and I'm not defending you from CK." She told him, wiggling her finger as if scolding Cam. CK was a tough dude and she's seen him in action plenty of times before.
"I don't need you to protect me from CK," Cam told her, holding his free hand up. He wouldn't get in the way of CK and Mack's likely mini brawl. He would, however, watch from the sidelines alongside Brinley to see whether or not his bet came true. "I'm just making bets and speculations. But in my opinion, CK might actually go for the girl I saw on his own. He just needs to see her first," he chuckled. He could plant the seeds, just enough to see what CK did on his own. The whole situation was always fun to watch, and CK's best interest was always at heart. The girl was someone he'd seen before, typically sitting with her three friends every time he saw her. That night, there were three extras he hadn't seen before, but she seemed like the kind of girl that would vibe with their friend very well. She didn't take any shit from her friends who were much rowdier in public than she was, which was why Cam thought his choice stood a chance. "It should be interesting, I think."
"You two are way too invested in this." Brinley muttered, unsure if he would actually hear her or not but she also wasn't too concerned. The two of them could have their fun; she was genuinely curious about this girl Cam had in mind for CK. CK was pretty dead set on staying single so she didn't really know if he would go for it but there was no harm in seeing what would happen. Maybe CK would break one of these days, he would be the first of their little group to be in a relationship. Brin didn't really have time for it either, work took up all her time. Weekends she was in the clubs and weekdays she was going through music. "What we should do is turn it on Mack, set him up with a blind date one of these days. That would be fun." Mack didn't care what gender his significant other was so they had even more options to choose from. The guy loved love.
"I wouldn't call it invested, I just like to see how the things we bet on play out," Cam corrected. They typically had many bets on each other running, whether or not the one they bet on knew about them they would eventually find out. The last bet they had made on Mack earned him all the money in the pot the three of them made, it was always interesting. "I swear, though, the girl is more perfect than anyone Mack has ever suggested. And speaking of, that girl's friend would also be an oddly fitting match for Mack. Plus I've seen her group outside of work at clubs, so we could potentially be showing both Mack and CK the person of their dreams this coming weekend at the nightclub." If things fell into place for them like that, Cam thought it would be perfect. SO much so he didn't know if he could really believe it, but he'd seen the group too often to not run into them for real one day.
Brinley rolled her eyes, hopping down from the counter with a quiet thump. Her butt was starting to turn numb. She listened to Cam excitedly explain how he thought he's found the perfect match for ea h of their friends, shaking her head in amusement. He was definitely invested in this whether he admitted it or not; no one else kept this much of an eye out for possible matches other than Mack and he has been doing this for years. "Do you just keep an eye out for possible suitors for the group? Wait don't answer that." Brin didn't want to know if he's found her "perfect" match, she too wasn't interested in dating. Not until her career smoothed out a bit. She was a big name and still growing so her life wasn't steady at the moment. Her job was her only love for now. "I'm sure he will appreciate the considerations." Mack would look into them she was sure, he was always thrilled to find new matches. The idea they might set him up was amusing to her though, she wondered how he would take that. "Eat your food beforw it gets cold again."
"Not quite. But when people come in so often and you see them at your sets," Cam said, grinning a little before he took another bite of his burrito. It was true, he didn't go looking for it or think about it all the time like Mack did. Interacting with the same groups of people that caught his attention were kept in mind, but he rarely spoke on it. This time was different, he wanted to throw his hat in the ring for once...even if it wasn't going to be something he stayed so on top of like their friend did. "I don't look for people for you. Even if I did, too many people I come across wouldn't vibe with you. You're too good for them." He shrugged, slowly finishing off his food and tossing his plate into the garbage. For CK and Mack, he could join in on the fun and suggest people, but Brinley was different. The girl was practically his sister; he'd be lying if he said that didn't make him view the typical teasing matchmaking game differently. No one was good enough for her, not anyone he'd come across at work. "I think we could subtly set Mack up without him even knowing."
"I don't have time to look at every face, I am way too busy hyping up the crowds." As a DJ it was not only her job to play music, but she also had to keep the crowd excited. The more they danced the more they drank and the more money the clubs made. If the clubs did well then they hired her to come back more and that was a good thing. It was all business and business was good. During all of that there was no time to mingle, she barely had time to think so she had no idea who were regulars or not. "Too good for them huh?" She smirked, knowing how he viewed her. They were like siblings and that protective brother vibe suited him well, although she could handle herself just fine without him. Without any of the group. All three of the guys were protective of her, it was pretty nice. Mack however liked the challenge of finding all of them dates, it's what made him unique. "I'm going to tell Mack to work on you next." She teased, sticking her tongue out at him.
"Not saying you should be or that you do. I'm just explaining that's why I noticed the two of them." Cam shrugged; it was the truth, whether or not Brinley decided she believed him. "You should try listening to me better," he teased, nudging her arm as he walked by on his way to the refrigerator to get himself a second water bottle. Though, he halted in his tracks when she mentioned getting Mack to focus on him, slowly shutting the fridge as he turned back around to flip her off with a grin. "You wouldn't dare, I don't need Mack tagging along behind me and not CK. CK's the fun one to watch." He already knew Mack kept an eye out for him too, but CK had always been the center of his attention when it came to this. CK was harder to crack and it made it more amusing to watch. He sighed, taking a long sip from his water. "Let him keep his focus on one, we don't want to overwhelm him."
"I think we both know that I would dare." Brinley took the chance to embarrass her friends whenever she could, and she used the opportunities like a weapon. They all were taller than her, and likely stronger being guys, so she had to use whatever ammo she got. Having Mack focus in on Cam would get him good for sure, and it would ensure that Mack didn't focus as much on her. She was not into it right now and besides, Cam needed to get out there more. For as long as she's known him, which hasn't been that long at all, he never dated. All he did was work and hang out with the group, he was boring. Brin definitely amused herself making fun of her friends in her own head. "Oh please, he lives for this stuff. He's always keeping an eye out for all three." She pointed out, making her way back the livingroom where her laptop was. If she wasn't going to be working on it then she wanted to put it away to keep it safe.
"He's probably not even focusing on you, so you don't even have to worry. Don't send him my way," Cam told her, following Brinley out into the living room to toss himself back onto the couch to get comfortable for a while. He stretched out a little, sore muscles from a long shift at the restaurant finally starting to reveal themselves now that he wasn't standing anymore. "We'll see what Mack does. But if he comes my way now, I'm doubling down on you so all three of us can suffer together." He reached over for their remote so they could watch something, knowing that he would keep Brinley's attention for the rest of the night even if she had been working when he came home. "Did you finally finish that new track? Or are we still tweaking it?" He asked, flicking through the channels for a moment before deciding on something familiar; some sitcom they'd rewatched time and time again.
Brinley took her purple laptop to her room, placing it on her desk before returning to him with a sassy gait and a pointed finger in his direction. "He knows better than to focus on me with anything, so try it I dare you banana head." She pursed her small lips at him, falling back onto the couch with a plop. A little relaxing would do her some good, sleeping probably would too but she would spend some time with Cam before then. They hung out with the group when they weren't working so they haven't hung out with just them two in some time. "Excuse me? Who's we? I have been working my butt off on the new track and it's almost done." She sassed, crossing her arms in front of her. For someone so small she sure held in a lot of attitude and energy, which was a good thing in her line of work. If she wasn't tough people would take advantage of her so easily. The guys have, and would, jump in if ever she was in trouble, but they all knew she could handle herself just fine. She was small but mighty. "Just a few tweaks left to do and then it'll be perfect."
Cam stuck his tongue out at her in retaliation, watching the TV for a moment. Something mindless was sure to help numb his brain after work. He frowned a little when he moved, feeling the strain in his back; he'd have to make sure he stretched before he went to bed to keep himself from hurting in the morning. It was an extra rough night. "I'm not taking any credit, it's just a figure of speech," he said, eyeing her for a moment. "So cool the attitude, firecracker." He loved her attitude, he did...but sometimes she didn't listen to him fully. Of course he had to remind her whenever he could, just to be annoying. He could be a bit of a cheeky little shit when it came to teasing their friends. "I'm glad. Think it'll be ready for your set this weekend?" He hadn't been to one of Brinley's sets in what felt like forever. It'd be a good chance to let loose a little after working nonstop the past few weeks. After all, he did love a good party.
"Don't take a bite if you can't handle the spice." Brinley knew she could be a bit much at times, but she figured if someone couldn't handle it then they weren't worth her time. It kept the creeps away too and that was worth something. There were plenty at the clubs and they didn't want to fight to get their "prize." The thought alone was enough to make her shiver uncomfortably, it wasn't pleasant to be hit on by people you didn't want to be hit on by. She waved the thought away after a minute and looked at Cam, shrugging her shoulders. The track was nearly finished but something about it just wasn't right. Being a perfectionist was annoying sometimes, but she was known as the best for a reason. Clubs kept hiring her back for a reason; she tried not to sound so full of herself and she truly was humble at the end of the day. She just put a lot of pressure on herself. "They always want something fresh, mixing songs isn't as easy as it looks...but I'll do my best to get it done before then. I have time."
Cam couldn't help but roll his eyes in response, making a 'blah, blah, blah' gesture with his hand as he listened to her talk. He could handle her attitude very well, their friend group was good at that. He suspected Mack the least since he was so nice, rarely needed anyone to match his attitude. The rest of us, however... Cam thought, smirking a little at the idea. He'd always heard it had something to do with zodiac signs, but he didn't know much about that. "I know you have time, I'm just asking. And to make sure you don't drive yourself into the ground like you're known to do," he told her, giving her a pointed look. He'd watched the way she worked on her music for long enough to know when she was teetering on the edge of working herself to the bone, and it wouldn't help the track in the long run. "You don't need to push so hard you end up hating the new tracks."
