It didn't take long for them to be seated despite how popular the place looked. A sweet waitress had taken their drink order, peppy and cheerful; a stark comparison to the gloom that was Zachary and even Danni. Zachary was grateful, though, that they were seated in a booth away from most of the people already there. The perks of expecting three more people to the party. He settled back in his seat, trying his best to ignore the urge to go on his phone. He had to remind himself that his boyfriend and their best friend had tried very hard to get this outing planned with everyone.
I should have brought my Switch.
He shook his head, glancing up when he heard his name. The drinks had come, something about waiting to order until everyone else got their which he was alright with. He had barely flipped through the menu, now opting to stir the ice around in his glass and look at the pictures in the menu. It made him nervous, eating in public like this; it always felt like everyone was staring at him. It never failed to make outings with anyone stressful, more so than they ever needed to be. He heard Elliott's voice call out to someone, unsure whose name he called but when he looked up he saw all three slid into the booth with them.
Elliott's friends.
Stop that. Mae, Chad, and Renae are your friends too.
The girl with her hair in space buns, covered in various clips and accessories spoke first. "Sorry we're late, waiting on this one took forever," Mae chimed in, nudging the blonde girl next to her. "Renae had her dance thing. Danni probably saw her."
