"Was that the right answer you were looking for?" By the time Iris had asked, they were already past the site. "When is this party, by the way?" She asked, obviously a bit distracted by the turn of events. It would be a change in what they had been doing for the time they'd been in Italy. It was an excellent opportunity for them if chance positioned it to be and if they prepared adequately.
Andreas was a boring player in I Spy, and his spies were more than obvious. Games were not a part of his life as he didn't have the time and found better prospects worth investing in. But he didn't mind the occasional card game, usually solitaire or war, ones he could play by himself. Anything in solitude he was comfortable with, but Iris worked to expand his boundaries. Yet the thing he spied was the most apparent and something Iris banned from the list of possibilities. It was the bright blue sky. Large and blue, and it was always in sight. Maybe Andreas didn't quite get the premises, but he changed the objective to a blue kayak, which he then surveyed the area for suspicious activity. Bella Satori lurked in the back of his mind as his nerves buzzed. It was clear; there was no luxury black car in sight. Andreas’s attention peaked, and he lifted his brow. Bella didn't mention a specific time when she brought the party. Then he remembered the card in his suit jacket.
"I need to make contact with Bella Satori to find out when. We should try to stay together as much as possible. Or at least within eye range for caution if things go south." It would be optimal to split up with large ground to cover, but Andreas didn't want to be cornered by the woman in question. Stopping at a crosswalk, taxis busied the intersection. After lunch, calling for a cab wasn't troublesome, and they were on route to base. "We'll write the details of a plan to be well prepared." He spoke low, glancing at the driver in the rear mirror. The ride took about 30 minutes, and they were on foot again, walking to their apartment. The canal had a few water taxis and gondolas. "But I’ll phone Satori later. I don't want her to think wrong and jump to conclusions."
It wasn't hard to keep from sighing when Andreas neither confirmed nor denied whether her answer to what he spied was right. Iris’s eyes rolled up to the sky that rarely ever had clouds and bet herself that it was the very thing that Andreas had spied. She didn't make any move to continue the game after his reply and only focused on what he said in response to the party instead. Iris’s head bobbed back and forth in understanding the general plan before they entered the taxi. It was a quiet ride with Iris’s thoughts jumping from place to place: the general plan of the party, this whole operation, what they would eat for dinner, and when this would be over.
When they left the taxi, Iris positioned herself close to Andreas again after double-checking to make sure they didn’t leave anything behind. "Depending on where the venue for the party is, don't you think it would be better to split up? We'd be able to talk to more of Satori's acquaintances if we do this separately," his last words stuck with her, and Iris lifted a curious eyebrow, "Jump to what conclusions?" She opened the door to their apartment when they arrived since Andreas was carrying so much with him, "I still think it's funny..." Iris paused momentarily, taking time to notice the little things. Her eyes widened a bit as the perfume and Andreas’s words began to make sense. "Wait, she invited you to the party because she has a crush on you?" Iris set the bag down on the small, old couch while her eyes remained on Andreas for confirmation.
The shopping bag was set on the floor, and the ruined blazer draped over the edge of the black bag. The suit was damaged beyond means though a trip to the dry cleaners would remove all traces of unwanted smell. But the spring summer-y coat was one of his favorites and carried a hefty price tag. It would've been rude to put it on the worn vinyl. He hung their formal attire on the outside hook of the bathroom door and left the door ajar. The floor creaked under his weight, moving to the couch. "Yes, she was slightly aggressive, over pleasing in approaching Will. I was uncomfortable, but we are one step closer to finishing the operation." He wore a straight face, recalling what had happened with Bella. At the moment, he was tense, but he didn't see the potential problem with Bella. It was a window of opportunity, and he endured the subsequent events. He brushed the topic under a rug as he reached to put Iris’s bag away. "That's why I want us to stay close. What should tonight's dinner be?"
