Amal is a land trying everything in its power to maintain peace. Having rebuilt itself from a disastrous war long, long ago, the leaders of the nations vied for a world without war. They aided each other in their time of need, squashed threats, and still remain in constant communication. In some aspects, it's worked well -- there hasn't been a war in
a couple of centuries. However, despite all of their efforts, an evil force still looms in the deep.
In the vast country of Bathall, the Elder Council sends out a message pleading for aid. All along the western border, lining Old Arlom, villages have been decimated and plundered to oblivion, wiped off the map without any mercy. Few survivors have made it to cities to report the devastation. The Elder Council asks for someone to investigate the source of destruction and take it down by any means necessary. They make a promise of a considerable reward.
That's where you come in.
Your group, a wayward bunch with a mixture of unique backgrounds, find yourselves in the capital city of Bathall. You're only passing by, so none of you expect to stay long. Each of you are minding your own business, restocking on ale and resources. When the message of the Elder Council reaches your ears, the group, each member for their own reason, takes on the call.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to all of Amal, an ancient, cunning beast stirs. She gathers her forces in secret and strategically attacks the nations, extracting resources and leaving before they can figure out what's going on. Banished far into the depths of the outlands, the Dragon Witch grows stronger with every passing moment...

TLDR; Your character is the member of a small group of people. You're passing through the capital city to restock on things when you hear about the Elder Council asking for someone to take care of a considerable problem for a promising reward. It sounds like it could be dangerous...

It's been a *long* time since I've been around here... I've missed it! And I'm aching for a D&D roleplay ever since I watched The Legend of Vox Machina, lol. That being said, this is a (unfinished) homebrew campaign of my own making set in D&D 5e, so I'd like to stay as close to that as possible! I'm lenient on classes/races, just make sure you run uncommon/homebrew ones by me just to be safe.
If we get enough folks, we'll start with the group in the city when they hear the town crier relay the Council's message. I do have an overall storyline, but it's open-world, so we can go wherever and do whatever we want!
I haven't written a rp request in a while, so if anything unclear just let me know LOL. I'll add a map of Amal below!
