Hello again, loyal listeners. It has certainly been a while. Haven't you ever wondered where all the good music has gone off to? What happened to all that swing, the big bands, and the jazz that rattled your bones? It's not dead and buried. It's been waiting for you in Red Haven!
Come and stay a while.
There's only one rule:
Pay Mr. Pinstripes his due, and there won't be any trouble.
But he always loves a good game.
If you're up to it, take up the tools of the trade and enter into the beating black heart of the Devil's music.
Play until your soul screams and shouts! Make the floorboards jump and the shutters shake! Just be prepared for the consequences.
Mephisto hates getting upstaged, after all.
While in Red Haven, musicians have strange and exciting powers. When two or more of them become involved in a Face-Off, these abilities manifest to their fullest. These effects are hazardous to the musicians involved, but only serve as spectacle for their audience.
The primary way to win a Face-Off is to bring the opposing musician or musicians to the point of physically releasing their instrument. No further music means no further entertainment for the crowd, and therefore it's customary to finish the Face-Off with a blazing-hot solo!
Other ways to win are by simply outlasting your opponent, either by making them pass out or causing their hands or lungs to spasm. Of course, the longer a musician has been playing throughout their lives the less likely this is to happen. Stamina is a precious thing.
The powers themselves range from simple elemental projection to dazzling bursting stars; the only real limitation is imagination. The musicians do not gain any enhanced physical attributes during a Face-Off and their powers only last for as long as they remain in Red Haven.
If anyone is able to defeat Mephisto, he is obligated to grant them at least one wish based on their performance. There are practically no limitations on what he can do… but depending on his mood, he can easily twist the wish into a curse.
For better or for worse, he's always going to try and please the audience - which may or may not be just an extension of his own shadow. Speaking of which, if multiple opponents challenge him together then he will react accordingly by giving himself an equal number of backup shadow musicians.
The mysteries of Red Haven could fill a vault and then some… and it's all connected to the Devil in the Red Pinstripe Suit.

Biography:
Name: Mephisto
Birthplace: unknown
Height: 5' 8"
Hair Color: blonde on top, blood-red underneath, with two black horn-like cowlicks throughout
Eye Color: red with pale yellow sclera
Instrument Speciality: trumpet and piano
Biography:
Some stories tell of a hole that appeared in the ground one day in early 20th-Century Appalachia, swallowing the surrounding forest and hills in fire and black smoke. Regardless of what happened, Red Haven rose from the ashes the next day and since then the music hasn't stopped once.
Those stories also mention that Mephisto crawled his way out of Hell just so he could find the best musicians on Earth and shower them with fame and fortune… for a price.
Whatever the truth of the matter is, he's not going anywhere.
