Closed off.
"Ah."
Can't go back.
Though the sense of foreboding had taken its victims, something of this whole situation still seemed - ill-fated. Sky protect them, they were traveling deeper and deeper into the unknown, and the unknown was, as a whole, something Emer was deeply uncomfortable with. She enjoyed familiarity. Known risks. Things she could tangibly understand. She did not fear danger.
But this -
It left her feeling sick in a way that even managed to cut through her numbness.
"I suppose - we should make sure you are all able to move." It'd be better to leave them here. Safer not to excite their injuries. "It would be best to take you with us."
She could not afford to let anyone leave her sight. Not again. If they left them, and she stayed, those entering the portal would be gone to her. If they left them, and she went, those under her care were at risk. She could not. Would not. Fussing over Juniper's shoulder, she managed to extract the arrowhead, and did her best to pad the wound and rebandage it without losing too much blood.
A newcomer approached - someone she didn't know, so by elimination, someone from the Truth Teller's crew. They were a beautiful thing, lithe and graceful, and dressed in the clothes of an eccentric noble. She wasn't quite certain if they were a man or a woman - perhaps that was the point. She glanced at the offered handkerchief and frowned.
"I have enough cloth yet to suffice," she murmured, not entirely trusting of the gift, "but if I were to run out, I would consider. If you could, however, help one of them stand -"
She looked between the stranger and Juniper, bit her lip, then nodded once.
"Here. Juniper, let them help you. Alys, have you finished? Hester, dear, where are you injured?"
Even as she moved over to Hester, her attention did not leave the newcomer and Juniper, always an eye in their direction.
