Name: Cary Anders
Alias:Shield Maiden, Illuminator
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Powers:The ability to generate protective force fields, Shield Maiden is also capable of casting force shields onto others, Shield Maiden can absorb the wounds of others so they are unharmed. History:Shield Maiden was a local superhero who lived in the city of Sacramento California. She spent most of her time dealing with minor criminals and villains and was rarely, if ever involved in major nation wide or even regional events. Her inability to travel quickly simply made it impractical, and her job as a waitress meant she didn't have the money to up and rent a plane when she needed one. Cary Anders was content with this life and helped wherever and whenever she could, twice assisting more powerful regional superheroes take down potent villains. She had some minor celebrity in the city but was a virtual unknown beyond it. This all changed when she was killed absorbing the wounds of an entire crowd of people as a villain dropped a bus on them.
The Serpent Who Devours Stars- The Serpent Who Devours Stars, Leviathan, The Eater of Worlds, World Ender, Apocalypse Dragon, are some of the many names of the entity that calls itself Apocrypha has gained over the aeons. His was a life of ending worlds, summoned to destroy civilizations by unknown powers when they were deemed to have reached the end of their life cycle. For a great deal of time he was content with his role, happily destroying one world after another, but eventually doing so took its toll and the activity lost its luster. Eventually master less and drifting, Apocrypha decided to 'retire' and voluntarily surrendered much of his great power along with the shell of his former body.
He eventually found a body no one was using on Earth and decided to occupy it. He repaired the body only to find its previous occupant hadn't yet left. Now he spends his time urging Cary Anders to do something greater with her life, like stop bad guys because it would be a nice change of pace. He shares control of her body, taking over when she wants, taking a step back when she doesn't. He communicates with Cary Anders telepathically and has marked his presence in the form of a tattoo of a serpent eating its tail located on her left hip.
With her death Cary Anders lost her job and her powers. Fortunately Apocrypha maintained a fraction of his former abilities and has gifted these to Cary to use in their quest for justice (or in his case, something to do that doesn't involve devouring worlds). If asked Apocrypha would be proud to tell anyone interested how fascinating it was to destroy worlds, but he grew tired of it and wants to do something new with his life. He'll leave out the part about why he grew tired of it, and how heavily the lives he's taken weigh on his soul. Unfortunately the only one that talks to him knowingly is Cary Anders.
