“Anytime.” Miko waves off the thanks and meets Kaya’s smile with a nod, her frown briefly lifting into a weak smile of her own. She still isn’t very happy about any of this, but at least she doesn’t have to do it alone.
That thought gives her spirits a bit more height. It’s like… a photoshoot! A nature shoot, which, sure, is usually on nice sunny days…
But she’s sure there are idol groups who go for the overcast almost rainy days! Yeah! The… uh, the horror aesthetic. Or, no. Um. The… Twilight aesthetic? From that vampire movie? Sure… Either way, they simply can’t disappoint the fans. Who would let a little thing like rain stop them?
Having thoroughly convinced herself of the idea, she is able to school her smile into something more camera-worthy. You never know who could be watching, after all! Maybe there’ll be a surprise guest waiting at the end of their hike, with blankets and hot cocoa and… yeah, she isn’t sure how much she believes that one.
When she tunes back in from her musings, she blinks and looks around to see that they’re somehow already on the path. Huh. She only catches the tail end of Ms. Meehan’s question, but she can guess the rest. She’s pretty alright at that. Sometimes. Other times she guesses completely wrong, but that’s fine. She doesn’t need to be the best in the school, just the cutest and most talented and, ok, it would be nice to be the best, actually.
She turns to look at Riet as the girl gives her answer, and she can’t contain the pride that wells up inside her when she sees how cute her jacket looks on her. Miko’s smile is sunny, maybe a little too sunny for the subject matter. She’s never thought about what she might have to give up to achieve her goals, but the answer comes easily to her.
“First of all, Riet, you look so cute and we totally have to go shopping together sometime. And I think I’d be willing to give up anything that wouldn’t jeopardy- jeopardize my future,” she says, stumbling a little over her words in her eagerness to respond before she forgets. “Cause, like, if that happens then what would the point even be in having magic?”
If she had magic, she's sure that things would be so much easier. But she also wouldn’t be able to sell the story of becoming a well-known, magic-less idol. Still, she’s sure she could think of something else to market. Work smart, not hard. Or is it the other way around?
