Venus waves off the continued praising of her and Annabelle’s outfits. She knows how to take a compliment (kind of), but really, it’s not that big of a deal. So, instead, she hops on Annabelle’s train of thought and grins at Morgan. “I like yours too! Must’ve taken forever to get everything to go together just right.”
Cassidy and Annabelle finally stop their scuffle once Venus is between them, just as she’d predicted. She hadn’t predicted Dapple’s comment, and she blushes lightly under her clown makeup. Maybe if she just doesn’t comment, no one will notice? Or is that more suspicious?
Luckily, Cassidy distracts her from her very muted internal panic. She grins at him, obviously undaunted by his attempt at fake-flirting.
“No wrong ideas here,” she bats her eyelashes, but can’t keep up the act, giggling and looking away. Her grip on his arm loosens enough that he can pull away if he wants to, since she doesn’t want to make him uncomfortable or anything, but otherwise she continues walking with the same energetic pace. “You should see my hand-holding game. Top tier. Winning all da medals.”
Or, at least, probably, if she ever held hands with anyone. But now is not the time for debating who’s the best at physical affection! Now is the time for candy! And getting to know Morgan better. “I’m just in New York for college, didn’t meet these guys all that long ago.”
“Ooh, man, we should totally have a movie night sometime,” she comments as they approach the adjacent apartment block, strolling up the sidewalk as a group of little kids runs the opposite direction, away from the door. When they reach the aforementioned door, she steps back slightly, letting someone else knock.
