Jacob nodded. Yes he already knew about Alvis's profession and what he did for a living. That was kinda why he decided to give the job to Alvis but it so turned out kinda bad. Eh well. There was no use sighing about it anymore. On the plus side, Alvis was proving to be an extremely good company. "And the infrastructure we have in place lacks when it comes to utilizing metahuman potential. More of people like you in this world will make it a better place." Helping metahumans find their place in the world even if one didn't really exist.
When Alvis spoke of his reluctance to use his powers unnecessarily, Jacob allowed a brief laugh to escape his lips, followed by a wide smile. "You know...if that weren't the case you'd probably hate me." Jacob hoped the man wouldn't break his own code after his outward admittance of ulterior motive. But even if he did, it wasn't like Alvis would be alien to the concept of lies to preserve ones own interests, an understandable motive in all honesty.
"Ah, sorry for bringing back an old topic," Alvis smiled, quickly changing the subject, "But your, ah... your double life. Am I correct to assume that this is partially because of your treatment as a metahuman? It seems an awful shame to have to bury that side of you..."
So it would seem Alvis was keen on prying, which, at this point in the car ride, he did not mind at all. He might have objected earlier but they'd managed to find common ground in terms of belief and so, talking about his 'other side' didn't seem all that much of a problem. "Well it's as much for my own safety as it of others that I keep my other side under wraps. I'm sure you'll have seen all sorts of different conditions in your profession Doctor...and mine is of a particularly violent kind. And humans tend to have a deep fear and prejudice against my kind over most."
It was something of pride for some of his kind but Jacob just saw it as an impediment towards his standing in society. No one would for example, vote a werewolf into a position, or something like that. The road ahead still was a fairly lonely one. On to one side, the sun had gradually started moving towards setting. Jacob glanced at his clock real quick. If he were on foot, this stretch they were riding could easily be covered in minutes but that was also not fun. He preferred his car to enjoy the passing sceneries.
