"It is the way you do it." Genna shook her head, did he really not notice? Well she wasn't about to explain it to him, she was on a schedule. Dan would absolutely kill her if she made him late for work, he had said as much himself. With Damian here she would have to be careful with what she did and said, she didn't want to ruin anything before Dan could talk to the guys. Damian didn't seem like the blabbering type but it was better to be safe than sorry. He would be on the teams side before hers and she was sure he too held some ill will towards her for what happened between them. They were all so protective of each other, like brothers though some were closer than others. It wasn't hard to see their dynamics if one saw them enough, they went to the same college so she saw them plenty. "Just as creepy as your guys interest in my friend." The interest in Shiloh still unnerved her. They wouldn't do anything bad, Dan had reassured her of that but she still had this strange feeling. It wasn't normal. "Ah that's nice. I'm shopping for a friend." These clothes weren't really Dan's style, but they were going to his place so same difference right?
Damian waved her off with a shrug; it was easier to be the carefree, happy-go-lucky one in their friend group. He supposed he could consider Luke and Emmett like that, Luke more than Emmett these days. Emmett was dealing with so much since the semester started up again. Luke matched up to his personality pretty well despite their differences. Though, the mention of Shiloh halted any teasing comment he had in return. He faltered for a moment when he thought about the bet, the upcoming gala or festival or whatever Carter had wanted Emmett to go through with it at. That was, what, almost two months away? It wasn't a lot of time. He ignored whatever she had said after that, instead choosing to focus on the bit about Shiloh. "It's not creepy. Don't make us sound like weirdos," he said, much more serious than he had previously been. "Nothing is going to happen."
Genna crossed her arms, forgetting all about her task for the time being as she studied him closely. There was that strange feeling again and yet he, like Dan, only said nothing would happen. What was it with all the secrecy? It couldn't be the fact that they just didn't trust her though she was sure that was definitely a part of it. "You expect me to believe that?" She didn't think they were being creeps towards Shiloh, but the sudden interest was strange. They went from not knowing who Shiloh was, not talking to her at all, to suddenly chatting her up and having girlfriends give her a helping hand. Could they really expect her to not be concerned about her best friend? Shiloh was a fragile flower, Genna didn't want to see her get crushed in any way. "She's my best friend, she's very sweet, I think a little caution is warranted."
"We aren't bad people, you know. I don't know what you have against us, but I can tell you nothing's going on," Damian said, and though it came out harsh there was no bite behind it. He couldn't tell Genna as much as he wanted to give her the answers she was looking for about her best friend. They had agreed no one else could know until they had more sorted out. "Look, I don't know what you want me to tell you. It's really nothing more than that." Of course, it wasn't completely true, but they were still figuring it out. There had to be a way to save Shiloh and keep her out of harm's way and not have Emmett completely ruined. That was one of his best friends, one of the sweetest and nicest guys he knew. Well, mostly, he knew Emmett had a reputation for being a diva and he lived up to it; but he knew Emmett cared deeply for his friends, he didn't deserve to have Carter tear him apart. He would likely get himself hurt even after the fact, and Damian didn't want any of that to happen.
"I never said you're bad people, but that doesn't mean you're not up to something." Nice people did things all the time, not necessarily bad things but things. They could be just as mischievous as anybody else and she was just concerned. Shiloh wasn't the type to like a lot of attention, she was used to being a wallflower so she worried what all of this might do to her. "Whatever." She didn't have time for this, she had stuff to do and places to be. Dan would be sure to give her the third degree once he found out she ran into his precious boy to ensure she hadn't slapped him again and she didn't want to deal with that. Her patience was running thin, but she wouldn't harm him. Despite what it seemed like she wasn't a violent person, she just sounded that way. She turned away from Damian and started looking through the rack again, not really seeing anything that was on it. Her mind was distracted and she was trying hard to get it back on track, shopping was a good way to do that. "Don't you have some flowers to go smell?" Happy people did that right?
"Um, no. Unless you're trying to refer to my major, but I doubt that," Damian said, shrugging. He knew when he wasn't wanted, he'd learned that a long time ago to avoid negative interactions. Even though Genna wasn't facing him, he still smiled softly. She was funny, a little strange. "It was nice running into you, sorry again for it being so literal. I'll definitely see you around," he told her; he still had to go pay for what he had in his hands. "Unless you've got the strong urge to slap me again, then..." he trailed off, laughing at the idea. He sensed no hostility from Genna this time, he knew she wouldn't do anything despite trying to come off that way. He supposed spending so much time around Dan made those senses more heightened, since he often watched how Dan acted and reacted to now know the warning signs. "But I don't think you'll do that. You're not as mean as you seem," he said, taking a step back to go head to the nearby cash register.
Genna didn't really know his major, but it made her think when he said that. He liked flowers? Somehow it just made sense that he would, it was fitting. "You're into flowers huh? Why am I not surprised." She teased, a smile on her lips. An actual smile. Flowers were beautiful. Nathan surprised her with a bouquet every once in awhile, she never had to ask for them. He was just that way. She got lost in her thoughts again but this time it was with more positive memories. As much as losing Nathan had killed her, she had so many good memories from their few short years together. He had been such a great guy, kind and always smiling just like Damian. Perhaps that was why she was so drawn to him, but she was still denying the fact that she was. Genna wasn't ready to face that quite yet, there was still so much hurt in her heart. She sighed and closed her eyes, it was easier to think about him now.
