Ships, in Sienna’s experience, were never quite the same even between similar models. There were the things everyone noticed, the cycles of the ship or the general pull of artificial gravity mixed with the background hum of the engines, but for Sienna the thing she couldn’t help but notice were the lights. Every light has its own particular taste, from the brightness to how energetic its pull from the ship’s systems were. This skipper’s lights were a little tart for her tastes, probably from a little less energy being directed to them if she were to hazard a guess though she was no engineer, which was to say she found it hard to stay asleep once the cycle ticked over.
Light leaked through things, that was its want after all, so pulling the thin covers over her head did little for what cut through the cracks from the hallway and did even less once the others in the bunk got moving. She attempted to sleep just a little longer, however, when most of them had shuffled out to their own morning rituals but she gave up the ghost once one of them returned to the room. The bald one who always seemed a little, well nervous wasn’t the word — twitchy perhaps? Kept sniffing too, but that wasn’t her business.
She released a breath as she sat up, and slid her legs over the side of the bunk. Her nose crinkled as she caught a waft of whatever it was he was drinking, smelled like that one black drink the colonials always loved but with an extra something off with it. Still, they usually had sugar around if that drink was available and she wouldn’t mind a little pick-me-up.
”Morning.” Sienna said, half a yawn as she slid out of her bunk and slid her luggage out of the little nook she had found to store it in. She was picking through clothes when the door swung open again following a quick knock. ”Hullo.” She said, curtly to the newcomer.
Seemed a little rude to just invite yourself inside like that, even if you had business with someone.
