John was, like, really in to fighting games, it seemed. They weren't really Kelly's thing, but it made her happy just to see someone so excited about something. Way too many heroes got 'blah blah blah stoic' into their heads and apparently thought it was a crime to let people know they enjoyed stuff. Okay, so Kelly was aware that was, like, totally an exaggeration, but it wasn't entirely untrue, either. A lot of heroes got all wrapped up in the image they were trying to present and were too afraid to just... be themselves. Whoever they really were ended up getting squished up and shoved in a little box and maybe it came out sometimes when they were with the people they loved, but a lot of times they didn't do that either and it just... got all weird.
That was the sort of thing that people needed therapy for, but even that couldn't help everything. Lethe seemed to appreciate the fighting game notebook stuff, and that was good. Kelly could appreciate that John liked it, but as far as, like, actual relevant commentary she was going to be way out of her depth. Kelly couldn't even remember the difference between an uppercut and a grand slam most of the time.
John set his phone on the table for numbers, which was awesome. It was good not being the only one around who was willing to take the social plunge. She let the others put their numbers in, kind of impressed that Lethe had gotten to it before Cere. She wasn't going to enter that competition, though. Reflexes versus speed versus... rainbows? Yeah, not happening. Better just to wait her turn and take it when Cere offered, especially since Cere only had it for, like, half a second anyway.
Kelly put her own name and number in as well, then handed it back to John before addressing Cere's question. "I'll try lots of things. Video games aren't real, they're not hurting anyone. I guess I don't really like the ones that look real, but the one where you're fighting the little aliens and they explode into confetti and go 'hooray!' is just silly. I'm not good at it, but I'll try it. And I'm like super good at sitting on the couch encouraging people who are actually good at games. Anyhow, you all down for dance games and milkshakes? Thursday evening?"
