The initial text message would read the same.
"About a year ago I sat down with Gawain. We agreed to in a year if nothing happened to have a death match. Literally. If want to pre-game find me in the Duskburg junkyard." Carmen knew who she was, big on wrestling and action movies. Lived her life as a boxer. Some might have thought death match hyperbolic. She hoped the brevity of thr message and use of literally would help convey that she was serious. It'd come around the weekend and by next week she would either be a death dealer or dealt death.
To Basilica & Scramjet
We don't talk much and know your busy. Figured you deserved a shot at him to. Could use help strategizing. When this fight starts I can't hesitate." Maybe they didn't need to know that maybe thty didn't need to be told that. Carmen however wanted it typed out, to sort of put it in word. She wasn't a killer, for all her destructive capacity it was used with hesitancy. She didn't want to ruin suroundings to much let alone kill. Half her home town saw her as a hero other half a disaster. Neither really understood what it was like to have the might that by now could level mountains, but not kill someone in a bar fight.
To Noctua
"You helped me get a better grip on my potential. On fighting in general. If I had it my way we'd hang and practice martial arts daily. One doesn't ask their coach to fight for them. But as a friend, if this is my last one I'd like you there." He was a mentor to her, but always busy in his own deeds. She'd have loved to be a martial arts prodigy now thanks to him but she wasn't going to hold someone back from their own ventures. This though might be her final run, last time in the ring and she wanted important people there. Possibly fighting alongside her.
She called Kore
"Know you'll probably be fighting alongside me. Spend time working out moves with me before hand. But before I get lost in ideas of the fight. And well incase I don't make it out of this. Know that I love ya, your a sister. Maybe not by blood on this world or below it but still." Carmen knew herself. She was going to get lost in either making the most of these days or preparing herself for the big event. In enjoying life or enjoying the preparation she might miss the little things. So best to say it now and be ready.
She called Grace
"Would love for you to come by and or do something else before the fight. But I uh, I get if that's a deal breaker. I wasn't sure he'd even come through but well. Here we are. And I want to be a hero, I'm a crap one but still. But a prison wouldn't hold that dude and eventually while he can wait months or act tomorrow he's just going to hurt more kill more. I have to end it or go down trying...If I survive this I'm a killer. Not a monster slayer. Not someone who acted in self defense. I chose this. And even if that means losing people before hand I gota roll with that." She didn't want the relationship to end. She liked being a girlfriend, liked having one. Was early into it but she liked to think it was one that could actually last.
Carmen though was going to be a killer or killed by the end of the week. She owed it to those she cared about to let them know. And let them leave should they want. To others maybe taking a life wasn't that big a deal let alone someone like Gawain. Carmen though spent her twenty two years being raised to keep that beast down. For all her rage her instinct to break things that was not who she chose to be. Be caring, sisterly, help others, train others, grind to improve herself anything else. She had a crown though, one of horns. Nails like a beast, ruby eyes of a monster. And now she was choosing that side of her not the girl, not the human.
But the Oni, the route of the devil.
~Duskburg Junkyard~
Towers of metal and cars flooded the place. Boats and planes to dragged in from crashes or wild incidents. Duskburg was home to plenty of crime and seizures of how some of those drugs or guns got into the city. Some of this debris came from that crime itself, heists dead drops. There were so many stories to the sea of steel. If one looked, they probably could find bodies. Carmen looked for just somewhere she could practice her might for when she buried someone. Truthfully though they might have been a graveyard already. Because Duskburg it swallowed up things that were good. It vhurned out corpses and monsters.
And though her knuckles weren't bloody and she wasn't bearing her teeth, she thought herself a wolf already. She had to grind her senses into a sharp machete. Steady her resolve to be entirely out for blood.
She came in the actual costume of Oni-girl. The fang of a dragon, a weapon now as tall as her. It was the Oni's might that helped push break and grind the tooth into something useful. A weapons somewhere between club and claymore.
It was like any day in Duskburg, so overcast it almost passed as night. Her eyes all the more striking in such lighting, hot like embers. It was like any day in Duskburg, a downpour of rain that looked to drown the rats of the city. The water flowing off her seemed in waterfalls. A towering figure of muscle no surface it fell from seemed small. She had spoken to the owner, he was entirely open to the Oni using this place. It was like any day in Duskburg, request for somewhere to do dirty work was ordinary. The monster's shape changed, but the principle of things it was ordinary.
Shoulders roll a neck cracks. The sound of it was more like a gunshot. The speed of it, the bones behind it there was a force to it inhuman. The sound of gunfire though that was like any day in Duskburg.
A lone car sits in a empty space. A devil aproaches it and brings her foot down with a tap. The junkyard rattles, it was a storm unlike other days in Duskburg. The force behind it makes the car leap but the action it was such a miniscule thing. A fist shoots at the vehicle, most wouldn't perceive it. The raw power behind the Oni let her move like a rocket. The impact was beyond even some conventional rocket. Rocket launchers you could get any day in Duskburg, but this?
The car became rain not a exaggerated term for scrap but the genuine thing. The vehicle blown apart into splinters the shockwave shoved the rain away. For a moment the spot before the Oni was dry the might behind the blow pushing the world away. The storm above Duskburg breaking away before the storm inside Duskburg. That wasn't enough she needed more, raw power might not be enough to end someone. She moves to another car.
Armored truck, it was littered with marks from bullets. Left here after a heist, given the city who knew the tail. Was it a robbery gone bad? A deal that went right but the workers went crooked? Who could say. It was more durable though then a car. The Oni knew her might could surpass that anyway. She might need more, something smarter. She'd gotten a better taste though of what might and air pressure could do. When fighting Radeka's monsters she'd gotten to play around some with more then just the thunder clap like patterns custom of a brick. That muddy dirty beneath her feet was not for most a weapon.
Behind the Oni though just a little was all she would need. The tooth is twirled in hand, the air protests. It was a heavy thing, pulled from a dragon the size of buildings it wasn't meant to move with the effort of a rapier. Carmen wasn't a prolific swordsman but that tooth she made intona blade despite being unwieldy in weight and size was simplistic for her. She moves back some and let's the weapon thud against the earth. Drag it backwards then step forward into a upward slash!
The soundbarrier cracks from the moment rain is pushed away in a dramatic tide. More so however the blade ripped at the earth, the force of it made a wave of air of pressure. The dirt is dragged into the torrent its cannon fire by proxy. It's shrapnel of a rather thin line but launched forward horrifically. So that a apparent blade of air cuts into the armored vehicle is divided in two. An exhale escapes her long bangs blown from her face. "It's still more kinetic. Don't know if that'll mean anything." They didn't know what Gawain could take, maybe her striking force surpassed what he could endure. If her blows didn't though then it might be fuel. Carmen would have been giddy about an air blade, a fact told by her smile. The Oni though knew that might not be a killer so who knew if working on that technique now mattered.
She was struggling. Carmen loved fighting she lived for it. Right now though the Oni had to be a killer, to consider not fun moves and combos but how to kill.
