Normalcy.
As the money was passed back to Psi, he would look at Carmen and give her a small smile. Awkwardly, he took it back and put it back into his jacket pocket - just shifting around to get comfortable before taking his jacket off. There were Red Threads embedded into the jacket, that danced on it - before fading away as he took a sigh of relief. He would look down at his hands, that were shaking a bit before clenching his fists. Normalcy. He could handle that. As he turned his head back up, he heard everyone talk about who did the work and stuff - a small smile forming on his face as he was mentioned. It wasn’t pleasant, and he felt his brain almost pop a vein - but that sense of pride overwhelmed that sense of ‘near death’.
That was till Kore asked him an important question. What was his take on what happened?
Under his breath, quietly - he just muttered ‘Directive’ - before abandoning that thought. Not now, not while he was around friends. He would just think for a moment, ruffling his own hair as he looked down. Voices drown out, just for a moment as he thought. A minute stretched out in silence, before he looked back up with a sigh.
“She invaded my mind.”
He explained, looking at Kore for a moment before thumbling with his hands - picking at his nails. Clearly, shaken up - the witch had left an imprint on him and not even he was sure if it was fear…
…Or overwhelming anger.
“Parasite bonded with the crab arm to crush its shell. Once it did, she dragged herself into my head. Started systematically deleting everything. Memories, feelings - wipe the slate so to say. I hurt Lethe as she had control of my arm. I’m not sure what happened after.”
A lie. Right through his teeth - and Kore probably knew him well enough when he was lying. A tell was that he chipped his nail, pulling on harmlessly. He knew exactly what happened after, but he didn’t want to say.
Some things, even Psi was scared of.
“Parasite bought time, then someone cut the arm off. But she was there. She saw everything. And tried - yeah. But, hey, it’s fine. I’m alive. I’m still me - and next time I see her, I’m going to shove my boot upside her head.”
He joked, letting out a chuckle - not really realising what he said would probably clue on that he was still shaken. But he just laughed it off, nodding and just looking up at Kore and smiling. He was okay.
For now, at least.
“Enough about me. Not the first time I’ll cry and live to tell the tale.”
