“Is Ennius in any state for travelin’?” The words came without much conviction backing them. It was clear enough that both Anceliene and Ennius aimed to leave, the only disagreement between them was in a handful of hours. It only seemed reasonable for them to take a moment of rest, days, weeks, heavens however long it would take for color to return to Ennius’s cheeks. How was that boy still standing, let alone finding the energy to follow them from the village to Opus?
It made him want to scream, the times it didn’t leave him wanting to press his hands over his ears and wait for it all to stop moving so fucking fast, but he couldn’t do either, so he instead released a slow sigh. They couldn’t stay here, even if he wasn’t inclined towards it, Anceliene still had her destination they needed to find and even that aside he didn’t have any aims to work for the butcher. Didn’t know how long he could last doing that, he hadn’t seen a spark of recognition in the man’s eyes when they had met in the guards room, but they had spoken in Coda hadn’t they? Perhaps he wasn’t worth the effort needed to remember, that seemed true enough anyway.
Laurent’s gaze fell to Owain and Anceliene, his lips twitched wordless at Owain’s question, but Ancie answered his question first. They’d be heading south was it? Lies always found a way to compound in the end, didn’t they.Laurent looked back to Moy, he couldn’t help but feel some manner of kinship with her forced chipper tone, so Laurent offered a sympathetic smile.
“Seems we might be making a touch of trouble for you, apologies,” Lauren said, he tapped the hilt of his sword with his finger, his smile fading away. “Moy, I have just a touch of curiosity if you don’t mind, that Captain, Jacques, do you trust him?”
