The raucous chatter of deckhands was gone, though, passing by to find homes or taverns - somewhere to rest their heads for the night. A few would remain on ship - on guard, or passed out with drink and given a wide berth, so to speak.
The one who called himself Sobriquet walked alone, hands in the pockets of a brocade coat, a deep green velvet tophat perched obtrusively on his head, accented by a gold ivy-leaf brooch. The breeze considered the temptation of the hat, but thought better of it, and took away Sobriquet's whistle instead - a fair tune, for the fae were ever musical. The whistle fell away to a hum, then passed into an amused baritone.
"Come all ye young fellows that follows the sea
To me, way hey, blow the man down
Now please pay attention and listen to me
Give me some time to blow the man down
I'm a deep water sailor just come from the bay
To me, way hey, blow the man down
You give me some whiskey, I'll give you a lay
Give me some time to blow the man down
Rise up the river, sail out to The Lanes
To me, way hey, blow the man down
The sweet girls that lie there, they beg for refrains
Give me some time to blow the man down
Tie the ship down, lads, by the lass on the dock
To me, way hey, blow the man down
She's quite fond of sea men, and quite fond of... Praach."
Ah, but he was not alone, was he? The voice stopped before the last echo, caught off guard by a sudden capricious grin, and Sobriquet's hand reached up to doff his tophat as he bowed towards the river.
"Ah, don't mind me. Heard that one before?"
