đźśľâ €Midnight at the Silver Lion Inn
"What can I get for ya, ma'am?"
Vanessa Hawke smiled at the ever-helpful barkeep, sitting herself down in the far corner of the inn.
"Nothing yet, love." She said, "I'm waiting for company."
"Ooh, table for two?"
"I'd hope not." Vanessa laughed, "This isn't really a one-on-one, if you know what I mean."
The barkeep paused for a moment, before erupting into laughter alongside her patron.
"Oh, stop it, you! I didn't mean it like that!"
"Look, I don't mind one bit what your party gets up to," The barkeep smiled, "As long as you're payin' customers, it's none of my damn business, is it? You go find yourself a table. Want me to leave you lot alone and wait for you to order?"
"That's be absolutely stellar, cheers."
Vanessa approached an empty table towards the back of the bar and sat down, propping her legs up on the tabletop and leaning back against the bench. It was a busy night, thankfully; busy enough that her business was likely to go unnoticed. The Silver Lion was no stranger to unsavoury characters, after all. Someone like her would all but fit in; although, as unsavoury as her business may appear, her intentions were far more noble than most. Indeed, her warm smile was just a front, charming as it was. Something roiled beneath her casual demeanour, a burning, seething anger which threatened to split her apart at a moment's notice. She was here for a reason, after all.
That reason had come in the form of a quest, if you'll excuse the rather light-hearted phrasing. A casting call had been put out, its whispers drifting through the city a mere few days prior, hopefully drawing people to its source within the bar. She needed strong folk for this one. Capable folk. For her own safety, she had been instructed to merely guide the prospective party to their goal, rather than interfere herself, but that just meant she had to be sure they would succeed.
She wasn't going to let herself be a bystander this time.
Not again.

{OOC (+)}QUEST QUEST QUEST some important things to note
- the request was spread mostly via word of mouth and it's all very secret atm
- all people know is to meet a woman named Vanessa Hawke in the Silver Lion Inn at midnight
- it's rumoured that this has something to do with the disappearance of Juliette Fairmeadow; the leading actress for the play at the Noon's Thirst Festival, who apparently fell ill and disappeared on the day of the performance
- vanessa was her understudy and close friend, but she's got some mysterious shady shit around her
the actual quest details will be explained in character, but ill also give a brief rundown now so you know what youre signing up for
- vanessa is certain juliette was murdered by the theatre director, archibald whitgrip
- archibald was known to threaten and coerce a lot of his actors, and it was an open secret that he would hurt them if left alone with them
- the quest would be to go to archibald's house in oldtown, find concrete evidence of the crime, then kill the bastard
- he sucks
- vanessa really hates this guy
but yeah; going off NEW SPELLBOOK BETA TEST QUEST RULES which means im going to be playing this more like a dm, whatever that entails. i might write that you get autohit if you fail a check or whatever. your character might be hurt, there will be consequences, but this is going to be a relatively easy quest to start off with so probably nothing too serious. as always if you have any questions or concerns or objections, ping me in discord
