Fear.
It wasn't hard to detect whenever it manifested. Elevated heartrate. Dilated pupils. Flop sweat. It even crept into his words and changed his voice, however brief they were. There was a story there that the devil didn't know, and one that she felt wasn't her place to know. Memories of labs and prisons and captivity brought about by the nothingness surrounding them. And Kore answered his words with a raised brow and a subtle tilt of the head. Then a subtle wave of the hand.
And, in the corner of his eyes?
Reprieve. A door to the outside opened to his left. Accented by the very same light-the very same illusions- that the devil had been using to illuminate the endless void in which they both stood. A corona surrounding a singularity that would safely return him to the world he called home. And yet, despite this act of faith and kindness, there was no smile upon the devil's face. No comfort in her violet eyes. You see, as far as she was concerned, departure would've been the most disappointing course of action lying before the telekinetic.
Her eyes flickered over to the exit, then back to meet his.

"You're not a prisoner here, relax. Just as I said, you can leave whenever you want. The choice is yours, but I'd advise you against it."
Her eyes flickered over to the exit, then back to meet his.
"I'm not entirely sure what bad memories I've dug up by bringing you here, but they're ultimately no different than your powers. If you run from them, they will continue to oppress you. But, if you meet them head on, you just might find yourself in a better place afterwards. I can't promise that you will..." she spread out her arms, gesturing to her infinite domain of darkness, "But I can promise you safety. Confidence that you can lose control in here without having to worry about the collateral or the safety of others. It's your choice to make, and I'm not going to pretend to know exactly what you're going through. This will all end as soon as you walk through that doorway, and I won't try to force you to come back again. But... well, you tell me."
"Has taking the easy road ever gotten you anywhere, Psi?"
