What a delight Jackie was, not a single filter between their feelings and their words. It was cathartic to see someone speak their immediate displeasure to authority figures, especially in the presence of the Chinese ambassador who seemed like the type who hasn’t had the word ‘no’ uttered in his presence for well over a decade now. Though it seemed to her that Russian princess wasn’t too far off from that as well, though she felt the type who was simply resentful due to how many times she had heard no in her life.
The remainder of the dinner passed with little else of note, and following a polite ‘good evening’ to those gathered Cilla took her leave with the orderly assigned to take her to her room. He was formal but pleasant, and certainly here to be sure she didn’t go wandering off to snoop on state secrets. Still, all things considered it was a nice little tour through a ship class she hadn’t been on before. Reminded her of Anastasia, an old frigate the fleet had been modernizing into a garden ship, though her skeleton was far heavier than the bones of this transport.
Cilla thanked the man as they arrived at her assigned room and she stepped inside. It was larger than she expected, and much to her delight it was an individual room. Bunks might have made it easier to get to know the team, but for now she simply wished to get some sleep. Plenty of time to talk to people tomorrow, it looked to be an interesting crew she would be working with. Cilla sat on the edge of her bed, the cushion was a little stiff for her liking, and picked up her bag and sat it down next to her hip. Opening it up made two things clear, everything seemed to still be inside and that clearly someone else had also looked through it. Rude, but not unexpected even if she was a little surprised that no attempt had been made to hide their snooping. Probably did the same for her ship as well, hopefully her gravity module hadn’t failed again, wouldn’t that be embarrassing? Still, much to her disappointment this did mean that she couldn’t go to sleep just yet, she needed to check her equipment to be certain nothing had been damaged when they had gone through it.
Perhaps an hour later her tools had been sorted and stored away properly, she had gone through the small amount of data that the Pillars had sent her way, and she had changed into fresh sleepwear. Sleep pulled her away almost as soon as she finally allowed her head to hit her pillow.
Her alarm woke her after what felt like a criminally short amount of time, but with grumble she managed to push herself out of bed. She groggily worked her way through her morning routine; a shower that was more luke than warm, her teeth brushed, dressed herself in some comfortable clothes with a decent number of pockets, a quick check of her pack to be certain she had all of her tools, by the time Cilla left her room the only thing she was missing was a cup of coffee. With a yawn she made her way to the transit area, which seemed to already be filled out.
“Good morning,” she said, raising a hand in greeting as she approached. “Hope everyone slept well.” She added with a smile.
“Got anything with caffeine around here?” She asked, slipping her pack off her shoulder.
